Heard a rumour that over this weekend there are several fly past's planed in the Dover area. Has anyone else heard this? , Hi Dave, We have CAA height clearance to fly at Walmer, up to 1000ft which we rarely do, so any-one doing fly-passes will have the notification and will have to take due care. We only have to lower kites in an emergency.

Despite a grey and misty start the queue for the kite making workshop started at 10.30am.and did not stop until we closed it down at 5.15pm. The kite stall had sold out of single liners by 2.20 and only two liners and spinners were left for latecomers. From the comments received at the stall the Club and personally owned inflatables were the main attraction, closely followed by the mass flo-tail flight and the assorted wind instruments. Apparently they could be seen from the pier to the north of the Beach to Kingsdown to the south, and this helped attract more visitors who were not aware the event was on - possibly the advance publicity could have been better. As well as local residents there were visitors from South Africa, Australia and Turkey. One lady was going to email her young grandson in Sydney a photo of a Tiger saying she had not expected to meet it on Walmer beach. The sun came out about 3.30 which made a lovely ending to the day and we hope you all arrived home safely ( after rather longer journeys than we had) and are relaxed but possible tired after a long day at the seaside. On behalf of the people of Deal and Walmer we would like to thank all the Club members for a wonderful display - you did the club proud and we are honoured to have had the inaugural flight of the Club inflatables. Two Walmer Residents PS We have received on facebook a couple of short videos taken today. Could anyone tell us how we could transfer them to proboards please.

A VERY BIG PERSONAL THANK YOU to all club members who supported the event, and assisted in the setting up and taking down of the gazebos etc as well as helping with the unloading and loading of my car: especially Steve and Sue Ide. Also Janet and Barbara in the selling of kites. There was help all around from members.
As mentioned in the previous posting from Bazjan, it was an a really good day.
The continued support, attendance and displays put on by members of the club, makes my role as community liaison/event co-ordinator run a lot smoother when co-ordinating with organisations in Kent to put on events, knowing members will fully participate.
The kite workshop at Walmer was provided by us, but staffed by Walmer Parish Council councillors.

Good site and a clean steady wind all day made it a joy to fly and worth the 2 and half hour drive. Only down side was the lengthy walk to the toilets. Thanks to Malcolm and the team for organising the event and look forward to flying at the site again.

Only works if the people trying to view the content are "friends" with the person who created it. Do you know how the videos were shared on facebook. Was it a link to vimeo or you tube, or a direct upload to facebook?

Hi Len, I hear what you are saying but this event was not at the usual site and if non-locals are coming to the event it is a requirement that most people will need to use during the day. This was a comment for the future if the event was to get bigger that's all I'm saying. Yes some other sites also suffer for this reason.

Len/Dave
Toilets are always an issue, the cost of portaloos can be prohibitive unless there is some form of sponsorship for an event The understanding and for which we were awaiting confirmation was for the Kite Flyers to use the yacht club's loos or the Council offices, but the chair of the parish council events committee aranged for KKF to use the cafe's loos, which were inadequate for the event. We did not have to purchase anything to use them. The parish council decided that there were sufficient public toilets within reasonable walking distance of the event.
The classic car event on the Sunday did not cost the council any monies. Apart from the trade stands, I believe there was external sponsorship so able to put in some portaloos.
I have requested to have a feedback session with the events committee at their next meeting and toilets will be on my agenda.
