As this event is fast approaching, I have brought the posting to the top.
The event is from 11am to 5pm.
Although other clubs have been invited, it would appear it will be KKF who will hopefully provide sufficient kites and flyers for the event to be considered a success, as the parish council is open to moving the event to a more suitable venue inland and to a two day festival with camping.
Parking for members will be on the strip of grass which runs next to the road named "The Beach", entrance will be througha narrow gap opposite Cambridge Road. Parking will be just by this entrance and should be signposted by Walmer Parish Council. I will bring along some builder's rubble bags ( capacity is about 50kgs) for use by club members.
I am negotiating for members to be able to use either the toilets at the Yacht club or within the parish council offices.
On the day I will be bringing along both of the club gazebos, the kite making workshop, loan kites, and kites for sale. The kite making workshop is being run by Walmer Parish Council so I will have a session with the first tranche of attendees at making the kites, which I hope to take place around 10am. I intend being there around 9am, and any-one who is willing to come along around the same time to assist me in setting up would be most welcome, and any-one who is able to assist me for short periods during the day if the kite trading/loan kites becomes very busy and also for comfort breaks, as my lovely assistant Debbie is not able to attend.
There will be no food trader on site as there are local business who are able to provide food drink etc.
Flying will be on the pebble beach, hopefully children will be flying in their own area, away from the main area of flying. Signs are being prepared by Parish Council for same and also to be put at beginning of prom and further down to inform walkers that kite flying is taking place and for them to be aware of lines etc.
In the main we shall be stewarding/monitoring the event, by all members who attend, so normal for KKF as we do same at any fly-in or event we are attending, except this time we shall have the use of walkie talkies.

This being almost on our doorstep we will try to be there earlyish otherwise will have to think up an acceptable reason for being late. Very high tide flooded access roads perhaps......or Romans with Julius Caesar blocked our route.

Not chauffeur but chariot, as the entrance is by the plinth commerating the landing on English shores by Julius C.

Re: The grass area alongside "The Beach" Walmer
Does anyone (with local knowledge) know if the grass area between the road and the footpath along The Beach at Walmer is suitable for the erection of poles? or is the ground to full of pebbles? Thinking of bringing my poles and line laundry along with perhaps a wind instrument or two. If the ground is to pebbly to drive in pegs / poles etc I won't bother

In reply to queries re line poles etc Baz did a recce yesterday and can provide the following information: There is a strip of grass over shingle of approx. 3 to 4 metres wide between the foot/cycle path and the main beach into which it was quite easy to install and erect a line laundry pole. This strip runs the whole length of where we are positioned so room for lots of poles. The vehicle access to the site which is directly opposite Cambridge Road is 3 metres wide, with iron bollards on either side. If anyone has more queries please post and we will try to answer them.
