Members who are unable to attend the kite festival at Herne Bay, may wish to arrange to meet up elsewhere, so please post accordingly on this thread

I thought we needed 'all hands' for this event? Surely the club can't support alternative venues.

Both Peter and Stephen, it is all members request ro support, but I thought just in case any-one felt that they were unable to attend for any reason and wished to meet with any other members not attending, then they could publicise here.
With the passes issued looks like all the regular and irregular attendees for the fly-ins are supporting the Herne bay Festival.
The entrance will now be through the main memorial gates and the intention at the moment is to park all car flyers at the far end of the park by the food concession and just in front of the lake.
Just a warning, as the end of the park where the kite flyers will be is open to the general public walking through, please be carefull of your property and would request that if you are not flying at any time to keep any eye on other flyers property.
The programmed events will take place inside the demonstration arena, set up for Close Encounters.

Malcolm Means absolutely nothing to me Gareth, Hope you got the car pass and the programme of events for Herne Bay Kite Festival on Sunday 29th June. The original entry onto the par was going to be through small green gates which led directly onto the field, but today I have been informed Canterbury City Coucnil has now given permission for entry though the main gates and up the tarmac drive and the parking for flyers at thsi time will be at the far end of this tarmac drive by the food concession stall. Hope that makes it clearer, anyway it should be marked out first thing Sunday morning. Malcolm

does that mean we will have a 'Pits Area' some where away from our cars?? we will need to erect our kites ahead of the displays and I for one don't want to carry a number of constructed kites through the crowds of people expected.

Stephen,
I am envisaging having an area for Kite flyers only between the parking and the demonstration arena, with the public flying area on the other side of the arena away from the clubs area. May reconsider on the day as to moving kite flyers alongside the arena. Will depend on how much water comes down over the next day or so, as wish to do as little damage to the park surface as possible.

Stephen, The latest forecast is for heavy rain tomorrow and Sunday to be a lot better, I am an optimistic person, and will obtain rose tinted specs in teh future,, so I am looking forward to some rain on Sunday before the gazebo goes up and rain after it is taken down at end of day.
