Just to remind members that this event is happening on Sunday, and Kent Kite Flyers are published as attendees. I had only three requests for car parking on the flying field so any-one else attending will have to park in surrounding roads. The intended times are 11am-5pm. the information I have is that this year the trader will be Windrush Kites, and not the Highwayman as in previous years Look Forward to see members there,I hope to be able to put up the smaller of the club's gazebos.
If possible please try to organise car sharing.

When I left home there was a light drizzle falling only to get a bit stronger as I approached Streatham, I got a bit lost and the people I asked for directions did not speak English, I arrive just behind Malcolm with Janet and Barry on board. The wind was strong enough to break two Gazebos and make it troublesome to fly kites. Team Spectrum had difficulty with their displays. Brighton and others were displaying and flying their Lampshades/Litter bins. Malcolm was interviewed by a TV Crew. It stayed dry all day but bitterly cold, I had two fleeces and an Anorak on. We packed up at 1700hrs and left for home.

Sounds a challenging day Len, we were intending to come, but awoke to rain falling, a strong breeze, so decided to stay home. By the sounds of it we made the right decision, shame as it would have been nice to catch up with other flyers.

The kites Len referred to as lampshades/Litter bins were actual twisted boxes, made at a kite workshop run by I belive by White Horse Flyers or Avon. Peter H knows more about it. Nice kites, would like to own one,but can only be made by individuals who attend workshops at the moment.
Len was right it was one of those days where kiteflyers were unable to put up their kites, but all the public had fun flying their kites, mostly bought on the day, some of which may never fly again. It was good to meet up with other kiters who attended, although cold from the wind, it brought a rosy glow to our cheeks. Not sure if it was a TV crew, but when interviewed the interviewer did say that they were making a documentary about the day.
ps our small gazebo survived the day, although at times it was creaking.
