I will regretfully have to pull out of this event, it is 4.15am, I am not well and have not slept at all yet. I do not envisage being fit enough to attend. Many apologies. Not sure who will see this but if they could pass it on to Malcolm I would be most obliged. If Wendy is still required please can Malcolm ring her at home I think he and Steve P have our home number.

So how did it go guys?
The weather was just about perfect?
I came to find you (mainly to give Barry & Janet their bottle of champagne) but you had all gone!!!!
Am so sorry that I was not able to be there as planned but my illness from my holiday last week returned with a vengence (probably because I was having to keep it at bay during my first week at my new job)....
See you all next weekend....

Great day with the weather being pretty much as forecast even down to the rain turning up at 4.00 almost on the dot. unfortunately that led to most of the public disappearing off home. I think it was fairly well supported, good support from KKF & invoted friends from over the water (the Thames that is)I think we put on a good show in less than ideal wind conditions. I saw and spoke to many of the public who all seemed impressed with the show. Thanks must go to Malcolm for his tireless work on the day and his first attempt as PA announcer not forgetting our able kite shop manager Debbie and her glamorous assistants. A good show once again by Close Encounters, Great rev flying by Len and Steve along with a good demonstration of tricks from Bill & Gareth. I think we had a good collection of sea themed, favourite & unusual kites & winged creatures, thanks to all who contributed in any way to the day. The final mass fly of flowtails, flght dedicated to the memory of Martin Corrie, was a sght to behold and brought one or two people to back to the park to take a look. I did have my camera in the car but there it stayed Im afraid, anyone with photos please email them to me for inclusion in the next copy of The Windjammer. Mike

Just one thing Mike forgot to mention, the wind was AWFUL. None at all at the start of the day, then it suddenly picked up to brisk, with a feel like lumpy custard. If you know the feedback you get through a steering wheel when driving over a cattle grid, that's what flying a sports kite felt like. So unfortunately we weren't really able to put on a great display as it was not possible to leave kites staked out.
All kites (including the edo) are now dry by the way. A few repairs to do.
What time did you get there Gert? I was last off the field at about 5:50 I think.

Thank to all who came along and supported the event. Special thanks in no particular order, Steve Ide, Len, Bill, Gareth and Dr Mir fro puttng on displays, I think the club may the making of a rev and trick flying display teams as well as how to fly an Indian fighter kite.
I would request any feedback on how we may improve the festival and any negative feedback about the day, do not include the wind or the sound system as these were outside my control.
Mike,
Marc from Sussex/Essex Kite Group and a good friend of Martin, said he would send me some pictures of the Flo Tails, will pass these onto you when received. He did state that there will be copy in the Kiteflyers about Martin and also he had told Martin's family about the proposed flying of Flo tails in Martins memory and they were appreciative of our support at this sad time.
