Allan and Marilyn of Close Encounters are offering some tuition in ballet for two line kites, provisionally at this moment some time around 3.30pm in the Memorial Park Herne Bay, on Saturday 28th. I already have Mike and Barbara coming along, so any-one else who may wish to have ago please let me know asap.

I am hoping to crash a kite or two on Saturday!!
Also if any-one is willing to arrive early to assist with the final setting up for the event will be welcomed, as after discussing with the chair of the HBCGP, I have my doubts if they will have sufficient bodies to have it all set up in time.

Was anyone aware that Herne Bay is hosting a Cancer Research "Race for life" on Sunday. Road closures around Hampton Pier Ave, Western Esplanade. Shouldn't affect us to much although if the park gets very wet overnight on street parking could well be at a premium. Heart FM have their roadshow on the seafront during the day. The event starts at 11.00, the organisers are advising that participants should get there 1 hour early. Let us hope that the ground isnt waterlogged and that the participants and their supporters come along and support our event. Keeping fingers crossed that the weather is favourable, forecast suggests that it might just be k. Mike Malcolm, not sure when we will get there, (as you know we are not known for doing early!) but if we can help at all when we arrive we will. Are Heart FM aware of our event? Perhaps they could be used to drive people in our direction

Mike, I have left the publicity to the HBCGP who are the people behind the Kite Festival, I am sure that they are aware of the Race for Life and Heart FM.
At least the weather forecast for Sunday is reasonable and should have a good chance for the festival of drier weatehr during the day, than Saturday. Thanks for the offer of assistance when you arrive.
Gerty thanks for your kind offer of assistance.
So long as every-one who is coming along is in situ by 10.30am and the weather holds, the rest of the day is a breeze( or light wind)

Strangest publicity yet...and one for Windjammer!!!!
Seen in the "Whitstable Times" this week....
Care with kites
HERNE BAY: Eyes will be on the skies on Sunday for Herne Bay's first Kite Festival. But officials at UK Power Networks are urging everyone taking part to remember to keep away from power lines.
The lines can carry power of anything from 240 to 132,000 volts and electricity can travel down kite strings.
The fesitival takes place in the Memorial Park from 11.00am to 5.pm and will feature demonstrations, including from the Close Encounters kite display team.

It is a shame that the Whitstable times didn't ask for a comment in response. Google earth doesn't show any power lines in the vicinity.
Get a different perspective - try KAP
