This the first fly-in of 3 planned for the rest of 2013 at Hop Farm. They will be advertising that we are flying there, and that we shall have kites to loan out as well giving advice to the public who bring their kites along.
We are able to access from 10am onwards and will flying at the back of the Hop Farm. We have the choice of two sections of flying area which is either side of the archery. One is towards the main road where they used to have the displays for events and the other section is beyond the archery area. It would be preferable to fly in the second of the areas as it is further from the road, so as to not cause a problem with drivers being distracted.
Entrance is to go past the car park on your left staying on the road to the buildings. You will come to a single barrier arm, and press the call switch and state you a re with Kent Kite Flyers. Go Through the barrier, pass the building turn right at the white marquee and you will find two small laybys, the first being access to the preferred flying area. We are allowed onto the ground so long as it is not saturated. Do not park on the roadway. I hope to be there around10.30. Please support this initial fly-in, as it could become a permanent fly-in venue. You will have access to facilities and cafe.

Am confused re the comment about not distracting drivers? This is an events venue with stuff going on all the time beside the road. We should take the space which will give us best wind surely?

Two replies in one.
Mike you are allowed to bring the van, just inform them at the barrier you are with Kent Kite Flyers, and they will let you through.
Gerty obviously we will fly where the wind is best, but should be good in either option as basically it is a wide open area with trees far enough away not to cause too much of a problem.

Cheers Malc only have a small car now so to use the van would be a bonus. Just reminder , we have to park off the roadway, forecast is heavy rain tomorrow into early Sunday, so ground may be saturated initially. Forecast is to clear up during the morning and stay dry and may become hot during the day. When we first arrive we may wish not to drive onto the main part of the fields so make sure you park accordingly, possibly initially just off the roadway

If the ground changes from baked clay to waterlogged, then I think parking at the hop Farm will be the least of my worries.

We had
torrential rain overnight earlier in the week and it didn't soak in at all...so no need to worry... Forecast now for a dry cooler day on Sunday. What time can we arrive?
