I have spoken with Ron, this evening. He says about ten days ago he had a fall. He says he was having periods of light headiness just before. All he knows is that he was going to the toilet and then found himself on the floor. Ron ended up in A & E where they diagnosed high blood pressure. They took him off various tablets for 48 hours and then prescribed just one medication. He had a blood test with his GP on Friday just gone and will be going back on Tuesday for the results. Ron says the new medication has not helped him. He says he has lost his stability and so has a lot of walking aids at home, including two walking frames one upstairs and one downstairs, as well as a 3 wheel trolley which has a tray so he can put his food and drinks onto and then wheel it from the kitchen. He says that Occupational health people are coming to fix a second bannister to assist him going up and down them. He is very cheesed off with the situation and does not think he will be able to attend the fly-ins at Teston in June in part due to being unsteady on his feet. His friend Tina is almost his full time carer. He sent his best wishes to our members and I obviously gave him ours as well. Will keep you all posted

Do you think he would appreciate an offer of Sir's mobility scooter?
It breaks down to go in the car.
Never used and immediately available......

As you may or may not know Ron appeared at the fly-in in June at Teston. Well wrapped up and in a wheelchair. Usual sense of humour. I have spoken with him to-day and contrary to expectation he says the week-end in June did not take too much of him, he was protected from a very cold week-end. He felt brighten up by those who were there mainly the "old Gits" and others whom he has known for years. It was pity it was such a small gathering of kite flyers after all that Ron has given to promote Kite Flying over the years.
At the moment his health is stable and is already booked into attending Teston in August.

I last spoke with Ron at the end of November, when he said he was doing as well as could be expected.
However I telephoned to-day and was unable to speak to Ron,as he was too unwell. Tina spoke with me, apparently she is waiting for the out of hours doctor to visit, as she said he has several problems, would not elaborate. She also said that they have not been able to manage his pain levels sufficently at home and so he is due to go into the local hospice on Monday for a period of pain management.
Tina said she would keep me updated when she was able to do so, but obviously her first priorty at this time is Ron.
Please all keep him in your thoughts and possibly offer a pray for him.

It is with deep regret, that I have to announce the passing of Ron Dell at 5.50pm this evening. I will post funeral arrangements as soon as I have them.
Last night I was inform that Ron had been taken into the local hospice after spending time in the local hopsital to treat breathing difficulties and assist with pain control. Unfortunately whilst in hospital he contracted a virus, which needed treating. When he felt better he decided to take himself to the toilet, but fell and broke either his hip or top of his thigh (not clear from the message). The consultants decided that it was inoperable due to the cancer.
We shall be sending flowers from the club as well as some of the members will be attending.
