Thank you both for your support. Next year I will take my Canon where I can control all the settings and get some better shots - it takes a lot more work to get the settings right on the night, but the results will be much better (as I have now found out) than the Olympus presets upon which I was blindly relying.

I think you did really well with the pics.
As has already been said illuminated kites are very tricky to photograph especially in the winds we encountered. Videos are slightly more successful if capturing a group of kites.
Just take a look on Youtube and you'll see the quality isn't much better than yours..... (Now someone will find a gem!!!!)
