From my point of view all went very well. Apparantly there was a difference in timings between the programmes the Stage and the kite organisers were using but Im not sure any of the public would have noticed. Weather was better than first feared although the wind was mischevious and for quite a while was very much top end. There are quite a few spars that need replacing (and a banner pole) but most kites and kiters ended the day unscathed. The rain squall caught most people by surprise but only lasted about 10 mins so wasnt really a problem (just hard enough and long enough to get eveything and most bodies wet). The day ended with gentle breezes, blue skies and plenty of sun. A great end to a lovely day. I spoke with many visitors during the day all seemed to be enjoying the event and thought the kites were wonderful. Many thanks to all who gave up their precious time to help organise the day, thanks to Close Encounters who gave their usual professional performance in less than favourable conditions and many thanks to all KKF members who attended and helped put on such a good display during the day. My personal thanks to Syd for his hard work in managing the co-ordination of the event, and also for his work as field co-ordinator on the day. I know he was not feeling great with his back playing up.

from Alan Frith - Medway Council.
'I would like to thank you for all of your and your teams hard work in making the day a great success.
Despite the weather not playing ball you produced some amazing displays.
Could you please pass on my sincere thanks to all at the Kent Kite Flyers.
I believe that this event has produced an expectation and desire for this to become an annual event.
I also believe that this was a good starting point and we can learn a lot from it so things being well we could produce a bigger and better event next year.'

The following was sent to me by a friend who turned up with his family toward the end of the day
"well done to the Club – we all enjoyed it and seemed to get the best part of the day."

From Close Encounters Website "Maidstone Festival was also challenged by the choppy weather but there were lots of people having lots of fun (Including Peppa Pig). The Kent Kite flyers had a few breakages but nothing too serious and Close Encounters had a good time as well as a good soaking in the only shower of the afternoon!" Mike
