Sunday 5th May - Fly-in Location change - St Mildreds Bay

As we move towards the better weather (Hopefully!) we should now be back on our "Summer" schedule. I know our esteemed president is otherwise engaged this weekend but look forward to seeing as many of you as possible.

Weather permitting Fly-in Sunday 5th May will be at the Racecourse Park, Tonbridge, Kent. TN9 1HF is the postcode quoted for the park.

I usually park in the car park off The Slade. What3words ///oval.claim.supply should get you there.

Wherever you park you will need to carry your gear over the river. We usually fly on the NE side of the park not far from the children's play area.

As nobody from the West of the county is available this Sunday I am switching the location back to the East.

Weather permitting this coming Sunday 5th May we will be flying at St Mildreds Bay / Westbrook beside the Sunken Garden (close to Edmanson Ave), Royal Esplanade, Westbrook, Margate, Kent. Postcode CT9 5EN will get you close. Users of What3words squad.roosters.pest will get you there.

Last time Thanet was flown St Mildreds was chosen. I personally prefer Palm Bay and I did mention it last time. I currently have a heavy cold and not up to flying anywhere, however, if I feel better for Sunday I would prefer to fly at Palm Bay.

What a lovely afternoon. Following a roadworks inspired detour and wading through horrendous traffic we eventually arrived at St Mildreds to find Peter, who had only just arrived himself, talking to Martin F as we pulled up. Steve P arrived very shortly after and we all put the world to rights, as you do. Eventually kites appeared in the sky in a rather trembling breeze that couldn't make its mind up whether to blow or not. The sun was out making it very pleasant indeed. For a while it was a Brasington afternoon, followed by an assortment of kites. I think we put on a good show bearing in mind the transient nature of the spring breeze.
All in all a good relaxing afternoon. We left Margate at 18.00ish and had a very good run home, the earlier traffic queues having disappeared.

Barbara and I are not available next Sunday which should, following our usual schedule, be at Tonbridge. However I shall leave it up to those that want to fly to decide where to go.
