Fly-in on Sunday 12th November - St Mildreds Bay. Weather permitting this coming Sunday 17th September we will be flying at St Mildreds Bay / Westbrook beside the Sunken Garden (close to Edmanson Ave), Royal Esplanade, Westbrook, Margate, Kent. Postcode CT9 5EN will get you close. Users of What3words squad.roosters.pest will get you there. This location has been amended as road closures around Dover makes Walmer difficult to access from the West of the county. Mike

Ok, just to put a dampener on it, Roadworks this weekend are closing the A2 between Dover Eastern Docks and the Duke of York Roundabout including Jubilee Way. This will put a strain on all routes avoiding the roadworks so I feel that Walmer may not be the ideal location this weekend. Thoughts please Mike

Agreed Mike, but not as bad as last weekend when Roundhill Tunnel was closed as was the A2 at Whitfield, making Dover off limits. How about visiting the sunken Gardens again?

Please note due to it being rememberance Sunday, the Square at Birchington part of the A28 will be closed or affected for a short time so as the Parade will form up at 11am for the one minutes silence. I expect that traffic will be affected for about 40minutes or so.

Arrived to a very gloomy drizzly Margate. Peter and Gareth were putting the world to rights in Gareth's car. The weather gradually improved and Peter gave his new 'Hampton' it's maiden flight, very impressive! The wind improved after lunch and we all flew something. Barbara put her Brasington Rok in the air, I flew my Spirit of air blue and yellow flowtail, Peter flew a Falcon and Gareth his remembrance stack of della portas. With the light fading Peter put his illuminated kite in the air just as the first drops of the forecast evening rain appeared. Having left our lighted kites behind and with the chill setting in we left Peter to it and headed home. After a not so good start it was quite a pleasant afternoon's fly. Mike

Mike The rain stayed as the odd spit and I ended up staying until around 6 pm. Just as I got the led kite packed away the rain properly came down. A couple of people came over to say thanks for entertaining them with our kites but there were not that many out on Sunday 12th, maybe because of Armistice Sunday.
