Following reports of soggy underfoot conditions at Tonbridge and keeping with a Western Kent location the fly-in this coming Sunday 14th May will be at The Lade We will be flying on the beach somewhere near the junction of Coast Drive and Williamson Road. For What3Words users ///unsecured.fragments.cake should get you pretty close. We tend not to use the carpark due to the parking charges, so we park in the road on the coast side where the yellow lines end. Mike Next Sunday 21st May As roadworks in the Sittingbourne area are making access to Milton Creek problematic, weather permitting we shall relocate to Faversham Park Weather permitting Fly-in this Sunday 14th May will be at the Racecourse Park, Tonbridge, Kent. TN9 1HF is the postcode quoted for the park.
I usually park in the car park off The Slade. What3words ///oval.claim.supply should get you there.
Wherever you park you will need to carry your gear over the river. We usually fly on the NE side of the park not far from the childrens play area.
With rain forecast this week I am hoping Sunday may be ok. We will need to keep an aye on ground conditions though and I would welcome updates towards the end of the week if at all possible.
Please keep an eye on this thread in case we need to relocate.
Mike
Next Sunday Weather permitting and subject to confirmation Milton Creek

I shall be in Tonbridge tomorrow so can check.
We did have a complete deluge of rain yesterday, but hopefully that will have dried up by Sunday.

I was by chance in Tonbridge today... And it rained again very heavily, similar to yesterday. It was extremely muddy with very large puddles across the field which is unusual, but assume that the ground has sunk somewhat after recent floods. Regretfully, I would suggest flying elsewhere until next month. On another note the A26 between Maidstone and Tonbridge is still closed due to a gas leak so making your way to Tonbridge or indeed Teston as an alternative will be difficult as traffic is diverted along various alternative routes. In short avoid West Kent this weekend!!

It's getting increasingly hard to organise a fly-in this year. The weather hasn't been very helpful and now Tonbridge, once again, seems to be a non starter. Suggestions please for an alternative please. Mike

I fell foul of the road closure at Teston today, the diversions and other problems on route to Battle added an hour to my journey time! If the weather is OK, I'd suggest we head to The Lade.

I've just come onto the Forum to advise re the road closure, which I too was caught up with as the traffic moved across to the A20 and other back roads.

The wind is a northerly so Palm Bay is not a good idea. If I go out I shall probably go to Walmer, the usual reserve plan when nowhere else works for me.

Just as well no-one was coming to Tonbridge today...The A21 was closed due to an accident and there was heavy traffic in every direction.
