We have received the following on Facebook regarding Streatham Common kite day "Streatham Common kite day back 14th May 2023; look forward to seeing you" To be able to go onto the field in a vehicle anyone wishing to go will have to supply a vehicle reg. I use to collate the registration numbers but as I am out of action for some considerable time I am not sure who is going to volunteer this event and pass onto the organisers. Also beware that this may full within the emissions zone (ULEZ) or your route wmay fall within same

I went along to The Streatham Kite Festival today. It was a very nice day, so was well attended. The wind was very variable. One minute there were dozens of kites in the sky and a few minutes later there were almost none. I managed to fly my HQ Manta, but I had to wait for enough wind to lift it, although once it was airborne it was ok. The wind dropped, and I did not realise how near my kite was to a tree on the common, and my line hooked around a twig as it sagged. Luckily the line was stronger than the twig and as I pulled on the line, the kite left the tree, and took to the sky again with a foot or so, of twig attached to it, so a very lucky escape. If I had been using a lighter line, I think I may have lost the kite. There were several teams flying and I noticed some from The Brighton Kite Flyers. All in all, a good day.

Thank you for the report... Good to hear about how "local" events fare etc. I used to enjoy this festival, but it is in the most ridiculous spot when it comes to prevailing winds!!!
