Having attempted to fly in the far East of the county last Sunday we should be heading West this week. Change of plan, as Steve & Sue are not available it's now going to be Walmer for the fly-in. Hopefully this will mean that others who cannot get to The Lade may now be able to join us. I am assuming that inland sites are still fairly waterlogged underfoot so still in winter beach mode. Fly-in on Sunday 13th March Walmer. Depending on the weather we will be flying on the beach to the rear of 'The Borrowpit' car park Kingsdown Rd, Walmer. what3words tilts.coolest.breakfast will get you close. Current forecast is for 9 degrees with 20 - 29mph Southerly winds decreasing to 13 - 21mph by 15.00. Hopefully this will improve before the weekend. Mike

As Steve and Sue can't make it, could I suggest we up sticks and head back to Walmer, where parking is slightly easier.

That's thoughtful of you all, because that means I can make it this weekend. Thoughtful of Stevesue to say they aren't available, thoughtful of Gareth to think of Walmer, and thoughtful of Mike to agree and act on it. Much appreciated. The weather is not being thoughtful though, with wind of 17-21 mph, gusts of 29-36 mph, and it's probably going to rain at some point, if not all the time ! Can we teach it some manners ?

Weather report from near coastal station Deal.
Current situation: bright, broken cloud, breezy, occasionally blustery.
Shipping forecast for Dover says SE 4-6, rain at times. Inshore waters (North Foreland to Selsey Bill), often the most helpful round here, says SE 5-6, rain then showers. Strong winds are forecast. (If you don't follow the shipping forecast, gales start at force 8)
My mate the Met Office forecasts : Dry morning, varying 50% - 80% chance of rain from 1200, some heavy, temperature 9C feeling like 5-6C, wind 15-18 mph, gusting up to 28 mph.
I don't think things have improved much since Mike's midweek forecast !

Oh well, we will give it a go. If the wind is impossible we will go for a stroll along the prom. Mike

I need to take a wander along towards the yacht club anyway, so I will be there. I will leave here in the next half hour I hope

Update: It's 1220 and it's just started raining here. Dark grey blanket cloud covering southern sky. Hmm!

Disguised as drowned rats we enjoyed our stroll along the prom with Gareth this afternoon. Unfortunately the weather decided that kites wouldn't appear in the sky today. Lunch in the car followed by a stroll to Deal castle and back, then one last cup of coffee before returning home. At least we got out and had a little fresh air. Mike
