I've just heard back from our usual hotel. It has been sold and the prices have gone up a lot I think. Particularly for single rooms! Prices are: Double room on courtyard €189 per night Twin or double room €179 per night Single room €169 per night
So for 5 nights the cost would be: Double room on courtyard €945 Twin/Double €895 Single €845
Can people let me know what they want to do please. At the moment I have rooms tentatively held.

Phew ...... I think the courtyard rooms have doubled in price. As the hotel has been sold it is presumably now with a different chain and even more importantly are Madame and family no longer there?
In our case a quote for travel insurance may be the final blow.
Thanks Gareth for making enquiries for us all.

I cant afford or justify affording €1000 for hotel alone. What other options are there?

I can get us all in the Windsor, or the casino at roughly the same price as we paid last time. Both on the front. Windsor is next door to the hotel de la plage. The other option is the Ibis which is a bit cheaper and a walk away. I think that is near the port. Another option is the crocus, which I think Bill and I stayed at before, a 5 minute drive from the front. For me I'd choose the Windsor, but need to hear what others think.

I know the Windsor and have stayed there once before. I'm happy with that and happy with paying a similar amount to last time but I'm not keen on paying much more. The harbour is also fine - I've stayed in hotels around there too.

I've sent an email to the Windsor. We will see what they say. A problem could be that they can't meet our room requirements (4 doubles, 1 twin and 4 singles). Their website won't let me block book rooms.
The Ibis is near the station, about a 10 minute walk from the festival site. Whilst the rooms are cheaper, the walk to the front may be off putting to some of us.

I've also asked for a quote from the hotel Europe at the other end of the sea front

I've had a response from the Hotel Windsor. Prices are €120 for double rooms and €95 for single rooms, both inclusive of taxes and breakfast.
Everyone happy with that?

I have reserved rooms at the Hotel Windsor and cancelled the Hotel de la Plage.
The booking is subject to the festival going ahead and us being allowed to travel.

Just a gentle reminder. If you want to register with the festival, you need to do so at www.dieppe-cerf-volant.org/ukaccueil.html to get your arena pass and register for any competitions you wish to enter.
