Talking to my Niece after the Sellindge Fayre and saying about the possibility of having a fly-in there, she happened to mention that they will be having a bonfire party and that that would not be much use to us, until I said about our Kites with Lights. What do you think?

Love the idea of being where there are lots of people to see the night kites and therefore more money (hopefully) in the charity tin. Not so keen though on getting holes in the nylon from burning embers. Having dealt with fires and the spread of fires it is surprising how high and far from the source an ember in the wind will keep its heat.

Please do not dismiss the idea, it was a spur of the moment thought, I do have them sometimes. I will find out more details.
Len. ( must go, got the Committee coming at 18.00hrs.)

It is a lovely idea Len, but somehow I would prefer to return to Walmer... Don't ask me why, but have had some such good memories there and why change something if it works? Then again, what's to stop us doing more than one night flying event anyway? What about a New Year event at Sellindge? ?

Good idea Gerty. We've always had a good response from the public in Walmer, some of whom have walked miles to find out what is going on. And we should do more night flying. After all, we invest in these kites, then use them once a year. The ROI at that rate will take more than my lifetime!. I'm happy to do a New Years Eve fly. We tried in the past at Canterbury, which ended up with just me and Bill on a very frosty evening. But that was before the advent of LED kites, etc.

We will be away when luts takes place, but please remember that Walmer is a long way for some members to travel.

I do remember.....I'm one of the furthest away...
Am willing to travel if something worthwhile.....but would also appreciate something like an extra night fly in my direction...
How about we all take responsibility and organise ourselves.....perhaps trying to out do each other each time??? Could be a bit of fun???
No serious judging though......would spoil the fun and spontaneity!

We could call it our Winter Festival??? A good way to utilise some of the benefits of the winter... We will probably be in a position to test thermal clothing too? ?
