From their Facebook page Bristol International Kite Festival 2014 update Following a highly successful festival in 2013 the organising team has, after much consideration, decided to give this year a miss and instead to focus our efforts on planning for 2015 which will also mark Bristol’s year as European Green Capital City. As many of you will know the festival is still run by a core team of hard working friends and volunteers and has become a major event to organise on top of family and work commitments. By running the event every two years in future, like some other major festivals, it gives us more time to plan ahead and manage these other commitments. The festival team is keen that kites should still feature in around Bristol this year and we are looking to participate in other events over the summer by offering activities such as kite-making workshops and displays. Best wishes Avril, Martin and the festival team So No Bristol this year then! Mike

Much as it is disappointing for us, I believe that they are making a very good decision.
It does illustrate though how much work is done by so few to keep these events going and the absolute dedication.
Good luck to Avril & Co....and see you in 2015!!!!! (With the champagne again for any KKF bods who attend!)

And in a similar vein, I found out today that there will be no Peterborough kite festival this year.

I notice also there is no event at Weston Super Mare this year either. We need to support as many events as we have in Kent as elsewhere. Although there are dates being provisionally being mentioned for BRighton, namely second weekend in July, there has been no official announcement.
