Just picked up this message from Rob Brixton
As most of you know by now that poor Martin Corey has been diagnosed with a neurological disorder and in a very poor way...Martin has been in the kiting world for many many years running the Suffolk kite festival and club and going to all the festivals around the U.k...He has contributed more then anyone I know in the kite world and is a wonderful family man.In his honor I am going to organize a 'ONE SKY ONE MARTIN' kite day. Sunday October the 6th at the Greensward Frinton on sea CO13 9DN if this is cancelled for weather reasons it will be re arranged for the 20TH,the reason for the venue at Frinton is because Martin loved it there and with the toilets and plenty of parking, huge green area and usually nice winds it is the ideal venue to have this VERY SPECIAL DAY KITING in his honor, this is going to replace my 'one sky one world' event. For those of you that would like to camp I will arrange it at point clear near my house and keep you all updated on this thread as the plans come together..Please try and book your diary for this special event and let me know if you will be coming ...spread the word for me around all your kiting friends let all know,I am planning to do a video for Martin from all his kite flying buddies on the day for him to see
I've got nothing planned for that weekend at the moment, so certainly aim to go. Anyone fancy joining me?

We would very much like to take up your offer if it is still available Gareth. It was a great shock to learn yesterday, at Capstone, of Martin's ill health and we would like to pay tribute to him, and all he has done for kiting, in this manner.

Martin is suffering from Motor neurone and the comments at Capstone yesterday is in very poorly health. It appears it was only diagnosed earlier this year, when he was admitted to hospital with pneumonia. He had said previously he was having trouble with his legs. I was told that he has most of his ability to speak and so has gone downhill very quickly.
He was very much Suffolk Kite Flyers and was the lead organiser for the Kite Festival at Rougham in Suffolk. He was often seen at festivals assisting Mike from Kiteworld when he was trading and la ways happy to assist people with setting up and flying the kites they had purchased whether or not they were bought from Kiteworld
I will be sending him a best wishes card on behalf of the club in the next few days.
October 6th will be very poignant day for those who attend, which unfortunately I will not be able to do as I am away.

Rob tells me he plans to be there at around 9am. There is plenty of free parking but it does get busy on nice days. I think it will take about 2 hours to get there so I plan to leave Maidstone around 9am.

I will echo Gareth, what a wonderful day at a great venue. Lovely time flying kites remembering a wonderful kite flyer so sadly afflicted and recording memories for him. Weather couldnt have been kinder with sun and a nice steady breeze most of the afternoon. Loads of kites in the air and the KKF managed to do their part adding to a terrific display. Many thanks to Rob for organising the day and making us so welcome. Mike

Hmm, don't know why that didn't work, but I've inserted as a link to the photo on Flickr now.
