As per my text message to Malcolm earlier today, am very sorry that I could not make it in the end today due to a work related crisis. I will catch up with you all next week

I have spoken with a friend yesterday who works at the mill and he will be asking around today, so hopefully if it went into the mill, security would have collected it.

I spoke to Security at the Mill again this morning, they were very nice and knew about the missing kite (our visit on Saturday was part of their handover log) but one had not been handed in to them. I then spoke to someone in Health and Safety (apparently they deal with non-mill people coming on to site) and had a pleasant chat with a gentleman explaining the problem, he promised to get back to me - that was at 11am this morning and I am still waiting for a return call !!! Malcolm if your friend is able to help we are certain it went down in an area directly to the East of the Ridham Avenue Car Park and could well be sitting on top of the stacks of waste paper or between them though it could also be on the Wasteland that we could not get to which is just South of that area. Sorry Syd - no joy as of yet.

A Mr Steve Ralph from the Paper Mill got in touch with me today this morning and then again about 3.30pm. I explained about the location of the "downed" kite and he asked around and had someone check the stacks we suspected it may have been in. As far as they can tell it is not on their site, he also said that one of his workers mentioned that when he came on in Saturday afternoon he saw (not that he knew it at the time) what looked like our missing kite on the road near the base of an Electric Pylon on the roundabout. This turns out to be the one by the entrance to the Paper Mill that all three of us went round on the way to and from the Mill on Saturday. After the phone call I went back and checked the roundabout, nearby land and the adjacent fencing (just in case someone just dumped it over a fence) but no joy. Sorry.
