Sunday 7th April Weather permitting we will be flying on the beach at the rear of the rear the Lade car park at Lydd-on-Sea. For What3Words users ///reclaimed.scoping.incursion should get you pretty close. Current forecast is for 12 degrees winds 22 - 34 mph. Will keep a watch on this and hope it lessens. The committee has agreed to refund to members any car parking charges you may incur while flying with us at The Lade this weekend. Mike

As Steve & Sue are not around this weekend would it suit more members for a change of venue towards the East? Mike

Not for me to say but the wind is not looking promising anywhere in Kent on Sunday.

The Lade or Walmer makes little difference to me. Both roughly 50 mile trips..The weather will be the deciding factor whether I venture out or carry on preparing kite kits.

I'm obviously biased, so I won't express an opinion.
But the 'very unreliable this far ahead' forecast suggests winds strong enough (force 6, 24-26 mph, gusting gale force 8, 40+ mph) to make it difficult if not dangerous to cycle to the seafront, and certainly too strong for my poor little kites. Translated into garden-speak, the already overflowing birdbaths might not be replenished, but the seaweed would already be damp, and the bamboo would be at 45 degrees !

"I'm obviously biased, so I won't express an opinion."
I know all your preferences, it would help when asked for an opinion to voice one rather than sit on the fence.
With both Saturday and Sunday showing winds gusting to 34 mph I have a feeling this is not going to be a good flying weekend.

I wasn't purposely being awkward Mike and, as everyone knows, I'm always happy to fly on a Sunday when the weather permits. I can't get away until around 11.30-12 noon so I'm limited to a 1½ hour drive. If the location and the weather plays ball, I'm happy to join everyone. I appreciate that I live in Thanet - the far flung east of Kent so, as I said "it's not for me to say" as I'm making everyone else drive a distance.

It looks like Kathleen is going to have the final say! Another weekend, yet another named storm. You just couldn't make it up.
BBC forecasting 40mph on Sunday, think I might just be staying at home. Mike

Sorry, Mike, for not being helpful. I thought the attached forecast would make it clear that Walmer would not be a good place to fly this weekend, much as I would have liked it to be.
Thanks to Kathleen, the forecast has now slightly worsened, wind-wise !

A lovely bright day but the wind is harsh; not a day for putting anything you want to keep, in the air.
