Relocated to Walmer due to road closures around Sittingbourne Fly-in on Sunday 11th June - Walmer. Weather permitting we will be flying on the beach to the rear of 'The Borrowpit' car park Kingsdown Rd, Walmer. Postcode CT14 7LH or what3words tilts.coolest.breakfast will get you close. We are scheduled to be at Milton Creek this coming Sunday. According to my quick trawl through t'internet the A249 is closed southbound this weekend. Can anyone confirm this please. If that is the case then getting home will be a trial for many so I would suggest relocating somewhere else. Suggestions please.Mike

As Sue & Steve are not available this weekend would it be better to fly in the east as more members would be available? Mike

I like the 'weather permitting' in the update. The long range forecast is very positive from the Met Office, with winds of force 3-4 (8-15 mph) and virtually no chance of rain, whereas the BBC are being more cautious and suggesting winds of 6 mph, with a 20% chance of showers, possibly thundery,
BUT
they both say that it will be WARMER in WALMER than it has been recently. That must be good news !

Good news indeed, for a change.
All my forecasting friends agree that the weather will be fair, sunny, warm, even hot, with very little chance of rain (there is still a warning of thundery showers, but not covering east Kent). Winds will be light-ish 7-11 mph, force 2-3 (gusting 9-14 mph, force 3-4), variable , but mainly E, SE or S. Suncream will be required, and possibly a sunhat, as UV will be very high, especially on a beach.
If the wind fails us, I'm sure the Kent Picnickers will have a great time. Paddle, anyone ?

A great turnout yesterday on what was a very warm afternoon at Walmer. Probably our best turnout for a fly-in for quite a while and we all managed to fly something. At least for the couple of hours the wind behaved it's self. It was blowing nicely when we arrived and I launched our Teddy lifter with the 5 gummi bears that had no seen the light of day for quite a while. Gareth already had an extended keel Mega Delta in the air. Barbara and I were joined by Gareth, Lighthouse Janet, MartinG, Peter and Steve P and were all putting colour in the sky when the wind dropped turned through 90 degrees before disappearing completely. Boy was it warm when the wind stopped! Eventually it returned and we had a long spell of a beautifully steady breeze that would have allowed almost anything to fly. With Barbara suffering from the heat we decided to call it a day around 6.30 and headed off to sit on Marine Road with fish and chips before stopping off at Basjan's to deliver chutney on the way home.
