Found this announcement on the Midlands Kite Flyers Facebook page. If you follow the webpage address there would appear to be events at Folkestone & Dover on 20th August. Links are there to a plan for making your own Afghan kite. Unfortunately this clashes with the Betteshanger Wind Festival. Good Chance Theatre FESTIVAL ANNOUNCEMENT 🪁 🇦🇫 Join us to fill the skies with thousands of kites! This August we're working with partners and Afghan artists across 16 cities in the UK and Europe to present a festival of Afghan kite-flying, storytelling, music, poetry and dance. Marking one year since the fall of Afghanistan to the Taliban, we're inviting people everywhere to celebrate Afghan culture through the simple joy of kite flying, and together call for equal and fair treatment of all people seeking safety, including those from Afghanistan. Let’s come together on 20th August 2022 to fill the skies with colour! Find out more www.goodchance.org.uk/flywithme and keep an eye out for more details about timings and locations - we can’t wait to see you there ☀️🪁 #FlyWithMe #RememberAfghanistan 📸 Alice Denny - Film & Photo
