I'm free New Year's Day, too.
Today's forecast here has changed to 90% heavy rain from 10 am. I'm rapidly going off the idea. Even the washing up looks attractive ....

All our replies are crossing !
To summarise: I'll do the washing up on Monday, pop down to see if anyone is there on Tuesday, and I'm free on Saturday (and 29th, 30th, 31st, 2nd, 3rd ...)
PS it's 9.30 and the first spots are beginning to fall here. Back into hibernation. The washing up can wait.

Completely unavailable tomorrow as we will be inundated with visitors, weather forecast isnt great either. However Saturday's forecast is looking ok at the moment and we would be free then. Hopefully the weather doesn't change for the worse before then. We have flown on New Years Day in the past and it would be good to welcome in 2022, always assuming Boris doesn't announce anything to prevent it. Mike

It's sunny here in Deal/Walmer at 0915, but rain is forecast 1100 to 1300, and maybe a spot of drizzle at 1400. Wind force 5, gusting 7. What do you experts think?

Its horrible here. Wet dog (again) as we went out in bright and v. Windy conditions and came home in horizontal rain.
I'm staying in hibernation for now. Free all week, but Saturday seems favourite.

Horrible here now. Audible wind, far too strong for any of my kites. More hibernation.
I agree, Saturday seems like the best bet, as more flyers free to join us, and hopefully, more people out strolling to enjoy our efforts. Would that still be Walmer ?

No point in going anywhere muddy, and we can enjoy your company and that of the nice people of Walmer/Deal.

what a good way to welcome the New Year. We arrived to find Gareth, Lighthouse Janet & Steve P with kites in the air and Peter just launching. It was quite a brisk but very unfriendly wnd although the temperature was warm for January. We all managed to fly something despite the gusty wind with big holes in it. We were joined by Bill during the afternoon with a lot of interest from passing public of whom there were many out and about trying to walk off their Christmas excesses. After all the aborted fly-ins of late it was good to be out kite flying again. Many thanks to all who came along.
Mike
PS. After some discussion it was decided that we would try Walmer again next Sunday (9th Jan) if the weather and COVID restrictions allow.
