Remember that the car park gets locked at dusk I believe. I plan to be there.

Remember that the car park gets locked at dusk I believe. I plan to be there. I will aim for the little car park I think so as to reduce any potential locked in anxiety! Mike

One last blast before Christmas? You mean we're not having a fly-in on Boxing Day? To wear off all that Christmas Pud?
I'd better pedal down to the seafront, then, and wear it off before I eat it !
See you there.

WARNING Currently chaos at Dover due to the French border being closed to UK traffic. Queues this morning back to J11 on the M20 plus A20 closed coastbound at Round Hill Tunnel. Dover bound traffic is being diverted at J13 to the A259 towards Hawkinge then back to A20 Spitfire way roundabout. This morning (Sat) is chaos with traffic pretty much gridlocked. What it will be like on Sunday I have no idea but alternative route may well need to be considered.Mike

Thanks for cheering me up Mike. I hope the M2/A2 provides a better option.

Could be a better route of choice at least as far as Canterbury where you may hit the end of the lorries queuing for the docks. It could then be a cross country route via Littlebourne, Wingham and Sandwich to approach Deal from the opposite direction.
Adding to the tale of woe our usual Fish and Chip shop is closed, they've all gone home to Italy for Christmas.

19.00 Sat. Roads in Folkestone area pretty much cleared and Dover TAP being stood down. Worth checking road status in the morning before leaving home as situation may well have sorted itsself out. Mike

The roads may be clear but the sky isn't. We have fog in Deal and very little wind at the moment! Met Office pm forecast says winds of force 3, but still fog. It would be clear enough to see a kite, and each other, unless it gets thicker, but I'm not the right person to comment on driving conditions.
Further update in a couple of hours, if necessary.
(Meteogroup BBC forecast just says thick cloud, wind 8mph, but as it's already foggy/misty, I prefer to believe the Met Office !)

If the weather stays as is, but it brightens during the week, perhaps those of us with nothing better to do could meet for a midweek fly?

Still foggy, still very little wind here about 1.5 miles inland. Might be windier on the beach. Am about to load the bike and go down. If total rubbish, I'll come back and let you know ! If you hear nothing, there's either wind or company to keep me amused.

Have just looked at weather for Walmer Castle. 100% cloud is correct. Wind 8-13mph nothing like it. Temp 5 feels like 0 could be right as wind is northerly. Mist/ sea fog is not lifting.
Over to Lighthouseleprechaun for a Met office update......
