In accordance with traditional we will be recognising One Sky One World on the 2nd Sunday of October. Most of us will be at Blackheath Kite Day. For those not attending, nothing precludes meeting with others, or even flying on your own on this special day for kite flyers.
For those not familiar with OSOW, it was inspired by a summit meeting between Presidents Reagan and Gorbachev way back in 1985. Following that meeting, American kite maker Jane Parker Ambrose presented a kite, signed by many Western kite makers, to the soviet womens Committee during a visit to Moscow in 1986.
It was decided to commemorate this every year and on the second Sunday of October, kite flyers all over the world fly kites for world peace.
