See previous thread, this is just a test to find out if the calendar is now working accurately, as some two day events have been shown at being Friday Saturday by the software for the calendar

Seems the previous thread has disappeared. So here goes.
The format is the same as always, campers are welcome from Friday12th August mid-morning and are allowed to stay until mid-day on Monday 15th August, for a minimum donation of £10 per pitch for up to 4 persons. KKF members and attendees from other kite clubs, who wish to day visit will be allowed on the flying field , but must park at the Teston Bridge end of the field as usual. The gate to the field will be locked at 10.30 each morning and not unlocked until 5pm unless in an emergency. Late arrivals will have to use the public car park(s) which I understand is now £2 per day. This is to try to prevent non kite particpants bringing cars onto the field. If you are expecting people to join you ( especially campers) and will be late then you must come to the gate to authorise entry on the Saturday/Sunday. I am expecting the barriers to the entrance to be padlocked with coded locks, so there will be no problems with arriving later in the evening on Friday. As usual one of the toilets will be left open for use by campers and for obtaining water.
It is hoped for a good social and flying weekend. I have booked a mobile caterer for both days. There will be event feathers to purchase as a memento of the event.
There will be no commercial kite trader at this event, although KKF will have a few kites to sell.
Unfortunately there will be no children's kite making workshop available at Teston this year.

Sorry Malcolm, couldn't make it after all. Had it all planned as well. Was due to come down today (Sunday). Disappointed.

My personal thanks to every-one who came along and supported this event. It was a pity that we did not have the public turn up in greater numbers although the car parks were overflowing. Initial dates for next year August 12th/13th so make a note, will confirm when I have made contact with Kent County Council and received their ok for dates.

Au contraire, I thought the numbers were just right. Not too many and not too few. We didn't get crowded out by football games, and everyone got along fine. Very pleasant weekend all round.

Gareth,
I agree on the Sunday we did not get crowded out by ball games, obviously it looked different from the Teston Bridge end, but the caterer did not take as much money as last year, and we were not rushed off our feet in the kite trade stand.

There is a small report on page 42 of the Kent Messenger with a photo of a member of the public with their grandson. Mentions Ron Dell, Kiteability and Steve P. Steve, if I remember I'll take the paper to Canterbury for you to pick up.
