KKF have been invited back to St, Margaret's Collier Street School, Collier Street, Nr Marden, Kent TN12 9RR to provide and manage a kite making workshop for about 50 pupils. Just waiting for confirmation of timings but at the moment it is around 11am. The kites will be taken across the road to fly and we have been asked to fly some of kites. We previously were at the school about 3/4 years ago and the recreation field was liked by members who flew there.
The idea is the children make the kites under our supervision, not us make the kites. I understand parents will be present, so may rope them to help out.
Please let me know if you wish to come along and support.

Hi Malcolm Barbara and I would like to help at this one. However please only count on one of us helping as we will probably have James with us and that will rule one of us out looking after him. Mike

Mike and Barbara thanks for your offer, James could always make a kite as well, will bring an extra kit for him. Steve would welcome support in the workshop and we can go and have a fly afterwards.
If it is like last time we were there, will try to have the children and parents making the kites, with us just supervising. If I remember correctly, I try to do it as a class so I was showing each step as we went ahead as a teacher in front of the class. The idea we do as little as possible in making the kites.
Will update when I have further information and confirmation of timing.

Mike, Barbara, and Stephen Please note that this is going ahead, the school will be open from 10am for setting up and the children will arrive around 11am. Expected numbers only about 30 children, unless there is a last minute surge.

If you need any extra hands I am available.. Thanks Gerty, I believe we have enough numbers along with parents, Bill may also come along. Obviously the children will be flying the kites on the local field, and those of KKf who are there will have a fly a bit later. It is up to you and obviously many hands make light work.

A big thank you to Mike, Barbara and Stephen P. for their help and input at the kite making workshop to-day. As usual when doing a session with children and parents, there was chaos and noise, all wishing to making the kites at once. Second session was smaller and less chaotic. All the kites flew, and it was a shame that some parents did not stay too long flying the kites, except for one mum with two children, who was still there when I left around 2.30pm
Bill was test flying the newly obtained inflatables, which will be available for members to borrow, once having been checked out/or learnt how to attach and launch safely.
Sorry if any-one missed the information, it was agreed at the AGM for some of the monies held in the account to be used to purchase inflatable kites, of medium size, which we then have as a club as an additional draw when at an kite flying event. The ones Bill was flying were purchased as job lot from Michael Howard, whilst Peter Hulcoop has purchased a new one whilst he has been in China, still awaiting for this one to make it home.
