Steve and Sue were there when I arrived at 11.00, the wind was blowing at ground level but it was difficult to get kites aloft. Steve got his light weight Delta to stay up, I tried to get my Indian Boy Rok up but no luck so I changed to Wallace and Gromit and they were happy to stay up high, I then added some line Laundry including some Prayer Flags I bought at Oasis? in Canterbury and the shop donated the sales of these to the Nepal Earthquake Fund as one of their Suppliers was killed when his house collapsed. Gareth will tell you what he flew as I am unsure of the kite names, but one was a Jilly Pelham. Just before 15.00hrs it started to get cold so Gareth wearing shorts departed and shortly afterwards it started to spot with rain so we started to bring down our kites, but not before they got a shower on them, so it was off home to dry out a few things. That's all Folks see you at Sellindge next week. Len.

Opposite experience here at Margam... Very foggy with a light drizzle for most of the day. I walked the circular route around the park which killed a couple of hours and my knees!!! Saw lots of deer and even though it was foggy the views from the top were amazing. Came back down into the valley and the sun came out, as did all of the fliers who had been hiding in their caravans etc..or were at the workshop... A thoroughly pleasant couple of hours of flying light wind kites before returning back to the hotel.... Am looking forward to tomorrow... Hope you all have a great Bank Holiday Monday..

A great weekend at Margam Park. Friday was overcast and misty when we arrived but a good spread was provided by the organisers in the evening. Saturday was bright and I christened my sunglasses; it was wonderful to be able to look up at the kites without squinting! The wind was very fickle but lots of light wind kites made it into the sky. Sunday was drizzly and misty so Paul Morgan did the workshop then rather than on Saturday. We spent most of the day making our iboxes and the sun came out late afternoon/evening just as we finished the workshop in time for us to fly light wind kites again. Monday was amazing. 13,500 members of the public attended and the staff were overwhelmed by the numbers. There were a few complaints from the public regarding long queues and poor entertainment but all we saw were happy faces and very strange Superheros. Jacqui went as a Smurf and I was Flash Gordon. The wind needed careful attention as it was very different at various heights but I managed to keep my red baby dragon up all day and had many requests to bring him (or her) down to ground level so children could be photographed in front of it. All in all a good weekend although the organisers have said that they need to improve the facilities offered and hope that the event does not get any bigger in future years. A shame we never saw you Gerty as it would have been good to have caught up with you.

Yes, sorry to have missed you and Jackie.. I met up with a friend who now lives in Wales on the Saturday and who did not fancy coming flying....Thought they were a friend!!! Spent the day at Margam on the Sunday and missed you all but enjoyed it...Saw Alan though and Colin. Lindsay caught up with me and gave me a feather and welcome pack. Then had to deal with a work emergency on Monday morning which was very very sad, so returned home to prepare for my return to work the next day with that to deal with. Really disappointed that I missed the Monday events!!! Will definitely return next year, hopefully with some KKF friends!!!
