This is cover in members forum, but for interested parties who are not full members of Kent Kite Flyers I am opening a thread here, for any contributions and to give an initial outline of the information given.
As we understand the situation, Zurich who have been the main and possibly only insurer of kiting in the UK is not renewing policies as from the beginning of 2016, this will also affect individuals who have insurance. BKFA to which Kent Kite Flyers is affilated and incidently has two seats on the BKFA committee is in final negotiations to obtain insurance cover for clubs and members of clubs to be covered individually. Please check this situation with your own club, or please post here or in a separate message to me. If you do not belong to a kite club, now is the time to join, and especially one affilated to BKFA, as KKF is.

This is the update as informed to members who attended the AGM
" The situation is that Zurich have not fully pulled out of the insurance of kiting, but will no longer provide individual insurance. The committee of Kent Kite Flyers, as members of BKFA, have agreed to support the insurance arrangements being finalised through. We are waiting the final paperwork confirming the following:-
There will be an insurance cover for kite clubs with more cover than presently via Zurich.
Running alongside will be a separate arrangement for individual flyers
The above does not cover flying in USA or Canada.
Will update when have more details, for members of KKF there is some additional information in the members section

The committee has agreed to move the Kent Kite Flyer insurance from the present arrangements with Zurich Insurance to join in with affiliated clubs of BKFA to be place under one cover through BKFA. This means lower costs for the club, with greater benefits in regard to events and festivals at no extra cost
However it does appear the terms are such, that we shall have to provide a list of all our members with postcodes.
BKFA are stating that names of flyers may only appear on the membership list of one Kite Club. This does not stop members being an associate member of another club. It may be that KKF will have to introduce such a membership as from the end of 2015.
Individual insurance is still available but must be obtained through the club with whom they are registered with BKFA.
The new insurance procedures will come into place on 1st May 2015.
Individual insurances may be paid on pro rata for 2015-6, but from 1st May 2016 will be the renewal date for all insurances.
The cost of individual insurance is £10.80 per annum
All this was outlined at the AGM, and some members indicated that they are prepared to start from 1st May 2015 even though their present individual insurance does not finalise until later or end of 2015.
I have sent an e-mail to all fully paid up members to inform that unless they otherwise state by Sunday April 5th 2015, I will register them with BKFA as a full member of KKF for insurance purposes. This is an opt out rather than opt in.
For those who are forum members but not fully paid up members of KKF, this advisory information for your purposes and you may wish to refer back to the kite club to whom you belong. Obviously we would welcome any-one to join us who does not have a club to assist you with insurance cover. Any questions please post here or more personally via a pm on the forum and I will do my best to answer
I will be sending a separate e-mail to those with individual insurance as to how the proposals affect them.

Malcolm have you seen jerrys email from a couple of days ago which relaxes the idea of only being insured through one club.

Gareth,
I have seen the e-mail, but having re-read it a couple of times, I agree that you may fly as a member of as many clubs as you wish, but at the same time he is wishing to have a list of members of each club, and then states that if you are a member of say KKF then it would be advisable to have separate individual insurance t fly elswehere, which I presume most flyers have at the moment if not flying as part of their home club.
