I heard somewhere along the line that Ray Bethell has been advised not to travel any more, which possibly explains his absence from both Berck and Dieppe this year. Those of us who were privileged enough to meet him will know what a huge loss to the kiting community outside of Canada that is. So I'll share this video with you so you can see what you are missing youtu.be/nr9KrqN_lIg

Gareth,
Thanks for the link, just makes us mortals want to achieve 10 per cent of his skills or just give up and watch. I have had the privilege in the past to watch Ray in action and he makes it all seem so easy, although we all know it has taken hours of practice over the years to reach his standards.

I'm certain I met Ray and shook his hand at Blackheath many years ago. No one else was flying more than one kite unless stacked back then. What a smashing bloke. Shame to hear this news about him though, but, let's face it, he is getting on. He was 79 when the "Good Stuff" documentary about his efforts was released in 2003! Bless 'im.
