I have just learnt that the proposed venue for Light Up The Sky will not be going ahead with the event, so we are back to the drawing board.
Do we wish to do have the LUTS night-time fly linked with Halloween or as two separate activities.
Any comments and suggestions would be welcome

Could I suggest we try Woodchurch as a site. Its pretty central, got loos and parking and is surrounded by houses. If we can.t attract some spectators there we're wasting our time.

It is really up to us what date and time. We could do it around Halloween or which is late October or more towards Children in Need night which is the Friday somewhere around 17th November. personally I would rather have the vent earlier than later, as last year on Walmer seafront it was a little bit nippy. It was only the fish and chips which warmed us up last year.
Timing is say an hour before dusk to about 1 hour after nightfall.

Malcolm hasn't disclosed to you that there could be a very well supported event in Tunbridge Wells. I am waiting confirmation of funding for a display team to be brought in for the local "kite club" which has developed on a "problem estate" following a load of activities over the Summer. I was on the field today and there were about 15 flyers. There would be plenty of support for a LUTS event afterwards and the football pavillion would be open for us to use the loos. Am at a meeting tomorrow morning when this will be discussed. Woodchurch is obviously favourable, but I think that this could also be a great opportunity for us to "bond" with a very needy, but enthusiastic bunch of people.

Len, perhaps you would want o have discussions to see if there are any problems around LUTS at Woodchurch and then we could consider both Woodchriuch and Gerty's suggestion

Sorry Malcolm I have not contacted Woodchurch as,I would not know what date to suggest and there was a lot of tooing and froing to get our last visit finalised, and then KKF may have already decided on another venue. I will Email the Chairman though.

You have a whole bunch of people who want to support LUTS in T.Wells...not least our newest members who added numbers to our OSOW count. The pavillion is available for us with loos, kitchen with microwave & kettle etc..... Display teams not available during the day as planned (not for lack of trying!!!) but so what, we can put on a good show.... Site not brilliant...but can't have everything...Kites do fly there as is demonstrated most days and by Chris who saw my white flowtail flying (OSOW)...Parking nearby etc.

Tunbridge Wells is a pretty big place Gerty, so where is it?
My only concern is that being right in the west of the county, it kind of makes it difficult for those in the east.

I totally see where you are coming from (Maidstone)...but those of us from West Kent have been visiting (well, trying to) East Kent many times recently, and last year it was East Kent so perhaps we should do West Kent this year?
