Gareth, The Mayor of London has imposed an extentsion to the emmisson zone which mey or may not included Blackheath form 25th October this year. Could you olease enquire with your contact if it affects the area in whioh the Kite event takes place if so what age of vehicle would it apply to.,

Just checked TfL ultra low emission zone expansion map online and it would appear to include Blackheath as it will continue to the South Circular. There is a convenient checking tool that you can enter your registration number and it checks the database to let you know what charges, if any, your vehicle will incur (mine just has to pay the congestion charge in central London so would be ok at Blackheath). tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/check-your-vehicle/Hope this helps Mike

A few more details now on the kite day. Parking will be as last year. I will need vehicle registration details of those wishing to attend, as the carpark will be patrolled, and unlisted vehicles are likely to be clamped/towed! Our flying area will be on the other side of the footpath this year, so hopefully we will get better wind conditions (i.e. get some wind!) The organisers have no problem with vehicles driving onto the park to pick up and drop off gear, but they must be moved to the carpark afterwards. The event will be advertised as running from midday to 3pm, but we will be able to access the site from 10am. Blackheath now falls within the London ULEZ. Any members who find themselves liable to pay this charge can request a refund from the club. You can check whether you will be liable for the charge by entering your vehicle registration at tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/check-your-vehicle/?intcmp=52335

I went flying at Blackheath today. The wind kept dropping, but the kites stayed up most of the day. Let's hope for stronger, steadier wind on the 9th of October for Blackheath Kite Day.
