As we are at Hop Farm next week, hope every-one has got their passes and instructions via Syd.
We are now looking at the venues for May starting with Sunday May 6th. Whilst discussing please consider the rest of May.
there was a consideration by the committee to try a site in the north of county during May, I know it will be a long trip, but as we are Kent Kite Flyers, and we do have some members in the north of the County, we should try to find a site that we can go to at least 1-2 times a year. It was felt that May is a good opportunity to try out North Kent,as we have no events to which we are committed and daylight is becoming extended.

Depending on weather we had thought of supporting Essex at Layer Marney on Sunday.

Layer Marney Kite Festival is free to attend if you are a kite flyer and get there early enough, you have to pay to look round the tower. Martin last weekend said to go past the tower main entrance and access the flying field directly by a gate on the corner. The flying field is directly behind the tower. As I recall, for public safety, the gate is locked during the official festival opening hrs. If you arrive there late you might have to pay the nice lady at the Tower reception and if you are lucky she might walk round and open the gate for you (been there and done that!). Alternatively park in the lane and climb over the gate to access the flying field. You will be welcomed if wearing club clothing as you are obviously kite flyers, Suffolk & Essex flyers made us welcome last year. Struggling to post a photo but a marked up map of the tower can be found here:- flic.kr/p/bDUhQhHope this helps, hope the weather isnt to bad and you all enjoy the weekend. Mike :?) PS:- Met Office forecast for the weekend is looking better, less than 20% chance of rain keeping fingers crossed! Update from Essex Kite Group forum LAYER MARNEY TOWERS 6TH & 7TH MAY IMPORTANT UPDATE Post by willibob on Tue May 01, 2012 10:45 pm PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO THE CONDITION OF THE FLYING FEILD. NO VEHICLES WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE FIELD. PLEASE USE THE OFFICIAL CAR PARK

I'll probably go up to Clifftonville/Palm Bay in the absence of any other Kent based ideas.
