Moving onto our next event in Kent,,which is at:-
Betteshanger Country Park
Sandwich Road
Deal
Kent,
CT14 0BF
This is the third year at Betteshanger, the event is from 11am to 5pm, but we should be on site by 10am or shortly after so as we can be flying by the official time of event. Sunday 18th August.
After you enter the park there is a double wooden gate on the right about two thirds on the way into the main carparking area. As you go up into the entrance there is a track to the left follow this round to the flying area which is on the left of above park. I should be on site by 09.30 latest. Please use 4 ways and headlights and be careful of cyclists and public.
We are to park on the edge of the flying area, to those who have been before it is where there use to be the large teppee.
Although the area has been mowed in the last week to so, it has not been mowed all the way back to hedgerow due to the problems that have beset the Country Park this year so thereis an area of longer grass. Also please be aware that the left hand has not been speaking to the right hand so as to speak, and someone has arranged a cycle event bewteen 10am and 1pm which will use the track next to the flying area. This was not known to my contact until last week. After 1pm the track will be closed off,
There will be a kite making workshop materials provided by KKF, but staffed by Betteshanger Country Park. The children will be encouraged to fly in the area where the kite making workshop is situated and /or the ampitheate. Our area should be roped off, and the area beyond the track at the end of our flying area will be open to the public to picnic as well as flying kites. Our area will be solely for KKF to fly.
As some of you will know there has been significnat problems for the Betteshanger Country Park this year, which have not been due to the actual park but the owners. The Park is now subject to purchase and should be taken over during August.
They have exressed they are keen to continue our participation as part of future events.
I would ask as many of of our members support the day as possible, even if the weather is a bit iffy on the day.
N.b. will need the car reg nos on the day please
