Back for a 4th year, we have been invited by Walmer Parish Council to work in partnership with them to bring Kites on the Beach back again. Flying from the beach(stoney. Parking will be on a grass verge as in the pass. I have a meeting this coming week to finalise some of the timings. Will update as we go along.

Well, Kites on the Beach is almost upon us only 10 days away. Saturday 8th June, despite local paper putting in times as 12 noon until 4pm KKF will be flying with 1000ft heught clearance from 11am until 5pm.
This year the Walmer Parish Council who are our partners for this event, have decided to extend the activities to include a circus workshop, facepainter, small fairground rides and others and have named "The Children's Festival" including Kites on The Beach. Kites are obviosuly the main attraction. The arrangements are as in the past, that the entrance will be along Beach Road and opposite Cambridge Road. Kite Flyers will be parked on the grass to the left of the entrance, with the public to the right. The various additional traders and attractions, will be set up the other side of the Caesar monument and filter down to where I shall set up the red club gazebo and trade kites to the public. Children and responsible adults will be encouraged to fly towards the Seaside Cafe and coffee hut. I have requested various signs to be put up stating no wandering onyo the Beach where Kites are being flown, and ask members if they may be allowed on to talk to Kite Flyers and look more closely at the inflatables. I felt we should be able to handle the interaction without being roped off. WE CAN START ARRIVING FROM AROUND 10 am which is when I intend to be on site, as I will have two gazebos to set up, one for the Walmer Parish Council to use, and the other from which KKF will trade and promote the club. Not sure what sort of food will be on sale from the mobile caterers, so may be best to come prepared.

Thanks for all the info Malcolm. Just hope the weather is kind to us. Will there be portaloos again this year - does save the café lots of footfall.

Janet There will be two portaloos at least positioned by the entrance as last year. Long range forecast has changed to include light showers, whereas yesterday the forecast was for light cloud and sun. Just have to wait and see what the day brings and hope for reasonable weather all day.

Well The weather can change and let us hope it does, I have still got to go and be in attendance so as to keep the event on the calendar with the Parish Council. I have informed the clerk to Walmer Parish Council, that the winds forecasted are very strong and if it stays the same it will be unsafe to fly and also to put up the gazebos. Hope that some of you will show, just in case the weather forecast is wrong.

Thanks to everyone who has said that they will be there, I do not expect any-one to put their kites at risk. The wind forecast will be too strong for the gazebos, everything is already loaded. As yet I have not convinced Walmer to cancel tomorrow in advance, but if they do I will post on here first.
