For anyone thinking of going, the nearest Premier Inn (4 miles) is currently bookable for £119 for 3 nights over that weekend.

Hiya, It may be different this year as there are new organisers, but generally they will issue arena passes to any club members who wish to fly on the day. We are always welcomed and and allowed to park in the kite fliers "village area" which generally gives you access to fly in the arena anyway. You are expected to fully partake in the event and help with the mass flying of kites by various designers etc. which is good fun anyway, but no-one forces you to. I myself will be contacting Steve Hoath (A KKF member who lives nearby and is involved with the festival) to find out what the protocol will be this year. I suspect that very little will be changed as the previous format has worked so well. If you haven't been before, it it a well attended festival, at an amazing setting overlooking five counties. However, don't expect loads of large inflatables. It is mainly stick kites but with plenty going on in the arena with well known display teams. The hotel I was referring to is the Dunstable A5 Premier Inn which is just four miles from the site. Hope this helps? Gerty

I didn't get there last year, but hoping to this year. Not sure how or when at the moment as life gets a little complicated sometimes.
It might take a while for Steve to reply. I think he is in Moscow!

I have not been for two years and not able to go this year, but when I went, we had to be there by 10am, and just informed the stewards that I was were a kite flyer from Kent Kite Flyers, so perhaps there will be a reply from Steve Hoath (Flying SQuad) before the start of the festival. There was limited camping available to flyers

I have now recieved a reply from the event co-ordinator, so lon as you arrive by 10am, cars will be allowed to be parked adjacent to the flying arena, no parking fee payable, just inform the stewards that you are a kite flyer and they should point you in thre right direction.
Any-one considering camping please let me know vehicle number and number of persons attending, and whether you are tenting, caravan, camper van.
