Most members will have seen the above event mentioned in Windjammer. This is the third year KKF have been invited to bring kites to fly on the Beach at Walmer, nr Deal. I will have some small bags for any members who have not kept the ones I gave out in the last two years. This are for use as anchors when filled with local stone.
Entrance is opposite Cambridge Road, parking on the grass verge to the left of the entrance and CAA 1000ft height clearance operates from 11am to 5pm, although Walmer Parish Council are advertising end time as 4pm.
There will be a caterer on site as well as local cafes and "chippies". A couple of portaloos will be on site otherwise there are public toilets but not close by.
I am hoping to be on site from just after 9am, and would like assistance to erect our two gazebos as in the past; one of which will be used by the Parish Council, and the other will be our base
Please note members are responsible for their kites and equipment, and also the safety of the public, especially if any wish to have a chat/photo-opportunity. Depending on the wind direction the public will have their own area to fly their own kites, so please discourage any-one just wandering on to the beach either to just look at our kites or to fly in our designated area.
Hopefully there will be more stewards on site from Walmer Parish Council, and additional signage. ( There was a suggestion to fully fence off the area where KKF will be flying, but this would add to the cost of the event which is free to the public, and we have had no problems in the past and we hope not in the future)
