Suggest that as we have been in mid-Kent and East Kent for the last few weeks, perhaps it is time West of the County was chosen for the next venue.
Perhaps Tonbridge Park or The Lade or any other suggestion members may wish to make.

Much as I would prefer Tonbridge Park, it will be very muddy underfoot...It always takes some time to recover from very wet conditions such as we have seen over the weekend..

Agreed Gerty. I was pleasantly surprised at how firm the conditions were underfoot at Palm Bay on Sunday. Perhaps The Lade is a better option?

In the absence of anywhere else suitable...
The Lade is not really West Kent....Takes me well over an hour to get there.....but is a good site for us...

A man was once flying in a balloon, and the pilot said to him he didn't know where he was. Seeing a tall building, the pilot flew close and shouted to a man leaning out of the window asking where he was. The man responded that he was in a gondola under a hot air balloon. Armed with this knowledge, the pilot told his passenger "We're in Redmond". Puzzled the passenger said "How did you deduce that from the answer he gave you?" The pilot replied, "The answer he gave was technically correct but absolutely no bloody use at all, so he must work for Microsoft Support, which places us in Redmond" Thanks for our input Steve, valued as always

Hi Y'all Looking on the map I would say that The Lade was in South Kent! Most of the places I would call West Kent are to the left and East Kent is to the right. It is about as south as you can get in Kent and fairly central when looking at the easterly and westerly points so definitely South Kent. Mike

Does it really matter except that it is not East, North, mid or Southern Kent. I am not out this weekend flying as have family visiting.

It does to those who live in the West of the County!
It would be like me saying let's go to East Kent and suggesting Ashford.
The Lade will be fine if the weather is any good, but is not looking promising at the moment.

I make The Lade South Kent but at the same time it's only just the Kent side of East Sussex. What we need is decent suggestions of flying sites local to each member so we all can join those members in their area.....I have only heard of one site in the 'western' half of Kent mentioned and the club member that lives there has suggested that's ruled out due to recent weather. We are fortunate enough to have four or more in my local area and additionally several shingle beaches that could be flown. I know it's a long trek for some members to get to the extremity of our county but it is appreciated when others take the trouble to do it.

The president and chair and others live in West Kent.
There are unfortunately limited suitable sites for us, all of which get boggy in the Winter, but are great in the Summer.

Looking at the forecast for the Lade on Sunday, the prediction is N to NNW winds of 10-15 mph, 80% cloud cover, 20°c and dry.

I'm sure that there are several members that live in West Kent but (as I said) "only one site in West Kent has been mentioned" (on this thread) "and the member that lives there has suggested that's ruled it out due to recent weather." I'm interested and happy to fly at any site members from anywhere suggest as good to fly.

Gerty, I am sorry if you took exception to me suggesting incorrectly that the Lade was West Kent, all I was suggesting originally that we seemed to have been more in the Ashford and East of there in recent weeks and also with Brogdale event at Faversham, then KKF should consider flying towards the western county line. Apart from when flying is on my doorstep, Palm or St Mildred's Bay, most venues are one hour or more for me, and I think that goes for most members, especially those who go out to fly most weeks, even in the winter/early spring. After the weather we have had this winter, most places which are green, will be sodden, just have to hope that they all dry out very quickly, and so as many of us as possible are able to go out to "Fly for Fun"

Mike The reason for referring to it as South East Kent is that the Lade falls with in the administrative area of Shepway District Council whoops sorry Folkestone and Hythe District Council which through the 39 years of working in Local Authorities in Kent was always considered to be in East Kent as was Ashford Borough Council!!!
