it's only about 2.5 miles off the end of Lydd airport. Provided we stay within the 30 metre height allowed by the CAA (within 2.5NM radius of the longest runway of an operating aerodrome (CAP 393 article 97.3 d ) we will be fine! Mike

We fancy a day out, stand by your beds. I might surprise you all. What time? I plan to be there about midday, if I can get Gerty's kite finished.

Mike Don't know if it makes any difference but the actual flight lines from the runways go away from your flying site anyway

Great afternoon at Greatstone (sorry Steve but it feels more like Greatstone than Lydd on Sea) Gareth, Steve, Sue & Dave C had kites aloft& Gerty was getting kites ready when Barbara & I strived. Mike G & Sue were there soaking up the atmosphere and taking photos. Bill popped in to say hello and put a kite in the air. Collectively we put on a good show for the many that stopped to take a look and many comments were made by an appreciative mobile audience. Many cars stopped in the car park to take a photo and have a look before continuing their journey along the coast road. Lovely site flying on a shingle bank with very adjacent toilets. Nice to see the passing steam locos on the RHDLR. Mike
