@ Syd Its good to see that they are ready for us! Is there a preferred route to access the lighthouse by car? The shuttle bus last year used a different route for getting there to going back. When is the earliest that they will let us access the parking by the lighthouse? do we need a car pass of any kind? As they have a cafe there does that mean there are toilets available? So far the weather forecast is good lets just hope it stays like that. Mike

Hi Mike
I forwarded an email to you, it may be best to contact the organiser/sender for answers to your questions, rather than me acting as a go between. Should save time.
Have a great day on sunday, regards
syd

Mike, I have been up there KAPing and they are very laid back about times. No Cafe, but drinks and cakes are dispensed from a window ( A down stairs one! ). Toilet ( singular ) is just inside the door of the Light House.

Ok Everyone definitive answers from the National Trust Hi Mike,
We are looking forward to seeing you all on Sundaay.
If you could be there before 2 that would be great but no problem if that is not possible.
If all members of Kent flyers just mention that on their arrival we can get you all parked. There is no limit on parking but I asked Syd to try and keep it below 10. The site gets a bit cluttered with cars and we try to keep the movement of vehicles to a minimum when we are open. So if you could practically minimise the cars that would be great
We have a new tea room, toilets are available as well.
We have ordered extra kites in for our new shop and we have purchased some complimentary ones for the public to use…fingers crossed its windy!
Directions to the Lightouse:
Drive through the village of St Margaret’s at Cliffe, in the direction of the coast. You drive down a gentle hill past a school and up the other side.
On the right hand side at the top, there are two turnings. Take the second on the right. St Margaret’s road, follow down and take the fork to the left. You are now on Goodwin road, follow through houses onto track. Follow onto the end of track and turn left at the junction, follow the road down and take the next right.

An alternative route is to go through the village to the top of the hill and take the first right - Lighthouse Road (ignoring that it is posted No access to Lighthouse). Drive for about half a mile, take a track on the left, down a dip until you come to a T Junction, turn right and the Lighthouse is straight ahead of you. Hope you all manage to find it whichever route you take.

Hope you all had a great time.... I seem to be jinxed every weekend at the moment. The muscles around one of my shoulder blades keep going into a spasm so driving and flying not really possible today. Will try harder to get to fly next week!!!

The wind was strong, increasing towards gale force and very cold but the warm welcome by staff and volunteers more than made up for it. Car parking right by the lighthouse, complimentary drinks and our own dedicated toilet - such luxuries unknown at some sites we fly at. Hope you can make the next fly-in at South Foreland which may be in September when they are hosting another kite afternoon.

Great afternoon albeit somewhat cool in the breeze. A great shame that ths sun stopped at Dover although it did make a brief appearance during that afternoon. We were made very welcome by the staff and volenteers at the lighthouse. We have an open invitation to fly there any time we like as long as they are open. If we are driving there they request prior notification of car registration numbers as access is along private roads. They had a customer satisfaction survey they were asking people to fill in, if they get enough positive response they aim to hold more events there in the future. I would like to add my thanks to all who attended, Jon and the crew at the lighthouse were delighted to see us there and the kites we managed to get in the air were appreciated by the visiors during the afternoon. Mike
