Windguru says dry from sunset today until sunset tomorrow so for a dry night sky it would have to be tonight. Jacqui is going in for an operation next Sunday so neither of us will be able to make it then.

Good news from Deal. Weather now dry and sunny and the wind has increased. Mike and Sue Goodes are here and the committee will be joining them about 3 to 3.30pm.

OK. I'm there now. Where is everybody? OK. I'm there now. Where is everybody? (Just trying to join in with the latest 'double message' craze ?).

Well it turned out to be a good day after all, sausage rolls and rock cakes after fish and chips in Winnie.
Nice turnout and lovely display, really glad we came apart from the short sharp shower as it got dark.
Nice to see you all again.
Regards, Mike and Sue

Thanks for taking and sharing your photos...
I was the lucky one who didn't get wet by almost perfect timing but missed the sunset....
We could do this more often at various venues through the winter and continue to raise money for either CIN or Slide Away?
The more often we do it the more innovative we are likely to be.......by having more opportunity to try out new things and making it worthwhile
Walmer is a great site for night flying with all of the required facilities nearby and it works better by the sea for that much needed night time breeze...
Beaches also work well especially for avoiding dog poo in the dark!!!!
Let's set some dates?

I am delighted to report that despite the event being on, off, and on again, and the very heavy downpour when nearly everyone had their kites airbourne, we have collected the grand total of £129.55 for Children in Need.
This was made up by Gertys' works collection of £41. 08, Lens' buckets held a very waterlogged £33. 47, and I had £55 in notes in my pocket ( to keep them dry).
On behalf of the club our thanks go to the people of Deal and Walmer, the local Chippie, Gertys' colleagues and club members for making it our largest donation to date.

Gertys' comments about more night time flying was an echo of the Chippie we nearly all made use of. He said we brightened up his Saturday evening and would like to see us there more often. Unfortunately he doesn't open Sundays.

Stonkingly good fish and chips though to round off a good evening - despite the downpour. Walmer does seem to be an attractive venue with people out walking at dusk, but it would be wrong to milk the geneosity of the people of Walmer to the exclusion of others.
That being said, I'm up for more night flying, beaches are probably best because they are accessible at night whereas most parks and open spaces lock their gates at dusk. Just a little along the coast are Dymchurch, New Romney, Littlestone, greatstone, etc. All with parking.
