I'm bemused to read that 'all posts are the responsibility of the poster' while also noting that all sections are moderated by Gareth (who previously posted slimy remarks about me); another section is moderated by Gareth and Hissingsyd (who also posted gutter-minded ramarks about me). I spoke to Gareth regarding this previously (as moderator of previous KK site) - but this did not prevent smut-brained Steven Palmer from attaching my name to offensive remarks. So, do we have a moderator for this new site or not?? There seems to be a conflict of information here............. This is a family site, and I think some of the smut that occasionally appears, should not be there - and paints the club in a bad light.
OBTW: If ANYBODY attaches my name to any gutter-brained slanderous remarks in the future, they will be hearing from my solicitor.

""I have spoken with Ray this afternoon and he states that he has been insulted, disgusted, distressed and angered by some of the comments made about him on the previous forum on the website.
He has been trying to clarify the situation about the moderation of the proboards so similar remarks are not made about any members of the club, which may be hurtful or resentful. Ray wanted to make clear that no smut or innuendos of a sexual nature would be allowed, especially as it is an open forum, to which families and children can access. As yet he has not received an answer to his enquiry.
I am following up with Gareth about the moderation enquiry, but in the meantime, I would ask every-one using the site to moderate their replies in use of language and phrasing"

I have liaised with Gareth about the situation of moderating the forum
Should anyone have any issue about any posting, they should bring it to the attention of the moderator(s) who can take a view on it, or take it up with the committee. In fact, in law, this is exactly the correct approach. Anyone has the right to request that a posting be removed and the owners of the website must take appropriate action in a "reasonable time" or justify their reasons for not doing so. But on the other hand, the moderators and site owners must be able to justify any action they take to moderate comments. This is why most forums have a statement that all comments are the property of the poster and the forum owners take no responsibility for their content.
Obviously moderating the forum is a big job and takes up a lot of time, and as you know Gareth is in full time employment. I am sure that if any-one wishes to take on the role of moderator or to assist, I am sure Gareth would be please to have some extra time to himself and Gerry.

Am well miffed that anyone would upset such a popular member of the club to this extent, but confused as to when this happened? A line cannot be drawn unless a matter has been resolved to the satisfaction of the parties involved. Has this happened? Am aware that some of the banter between me and Malcolm could be seen as a problem, but hopefully most, as well as Malcolm do see it for what it is. Like an old married couple!!!

Ray,
my apologies Here is the one you sent me so every-one may read it and I do hope it is the right version this time
"I have spoken with Ray this afternoon and he says that he has been insulted, disgusted, and distressed by some of the comments made about him on the forum section of the previous website.
Ray also wants to make clear his view that no smut or innuendos of a sexual nature should be allowed on the KK website, especially as it is an open forum, to which families and, more particularly, children can access.
He has been trying to clarify the situation about the moderation of the newer Proboards website so similar insulting and hurtful remarks are not made about any other members of the club. As yet he has not received a satisfactory answer to his enquiry.

Just to make clear, aline has not been drawn under the discussion, but I was hoping that we may have reached that stage.
As for the banter between Gerty and I, it has been going on for longer than we have been members of KKF

Fair enough, but that banter doesn't involve smut on the forum. As I've said: I think it is seriously important how the club presents itself, particularly when the forum readership may well include children.

I agree, but seem to have missed the "smut" you are referring to. Given that I am the Child Protection bod for the club I do keep an eye out, but if I have missed something, then apologies to all concerned.

Perhaps some addition to forum rules?? Like I originally tried to suggest. for example: Rule 2a) Children may access this site, so keep it nice

Still not clear re the "smut" that has been posted.... I thought I was reasonably street-wise..but perhaps not!!! Agree though that we may well have children looking at the forum's posts, so need to be mindful.

Like I originally tried to suggest. for example: Rule 2a) Children may access this site, so keep it nice I sympathize with the sentiment, but for the forum rules to be effective they have to stand up to a challenge. Statements like "no smut - end of" and "...keep it nice" aren't going to work. I'd suggest we leave it to the committee to review the current set and decide whether they want a change, and if they do what they want put in (or taken out).
