Hi everyone I'm graham and I'm from Egerton near Ashford I have been flying power kites of various sizes for a while (mostly a 2.5m pansh ace) and thought it would be nice to be able to meet up with some other local fliers and share some tips and experience. Hope to meet up with some of you soon Cheers graham

Hi Graham and welcome to our forum. We're not a great power kite club, though chairman Bill was race officer of the PKA for many years, May used to buggy and I think is building a new one, and Ernie flies power kites exclusively. Hope to meet up sometime soon.

Hi Graham, I am one of a few KKFs who live in or around Ashford. I was out flying a Revolution on Great Charts Recreation ground today. Hope to see you at one of our Fly Ins.

Thanks for the welcome guys I tend to fly mostly at Egerton recreation grounds as its 2mins walk from my house and its a bit of a natural wind tunnel so even when the winds are light there is usually enough to fly something. I'll try to keep an eye out for a fly in nearby and hope to get along as and when I can Cheers Graham

Hi ern I have flown at camber with a mates 2.5m flexifoil blade really good fun dune hopping in the right winds. I hope to get down there at some point with the ace but want to get a bit more used to it on the flat before going further afield as I've only had it a couple of weeks and I'm a bit out of practice

Graham, a belated welcome from me ( Malcolm) KKF secretary. You will find where we are flying most Sundays by looking at postings under FLY-INs Always interested in new flying sites, I do not know Egerton, would it be large enough to consider as one of our Fly-in venues at most 10 members attending mostly with single line kites, but some also like to fly 2 line and quad line kites. Are there any facilities at the recreation ground ie parking close by, toilets, cafe and is it use for football and/or cricket in the relevant seasons. Hi Malcolm I can't do Sundays as I'm fairly busy with church most of the day so I normally fly Saturdays and week day evenings Egerton has cricket and football pitches but there is also a general play area and loads of free parking. This time of year I tend to fly on the football pitch as there is more space and its away from the kids swings ect so you don't get little people running around under your lines. As for facility's there aren't any at the rec unless either football or cricket is on and their pavilion is open but there is a good local pub within easy walking distance if needs be

I've never used a buggy so I have no idea how much space you would need but if a football pitch and a bit is enough then I don't see why not

Hi Graham welcome aboard. I don't actually lead the Scout's power kite team but if you wanted to join us we're always on the look out for new instructors (don't be put off, none of us are that experienced either but we're working on it!). We also occasionally get together for team days (ie no kids) at various locations around the south-east (eg Greatstone, Camber, Blackheath, Barton's Point, Essex Kite Park etc) and you'd be welcome to come and join us, if interested get in touch. My own website www.thetankertonkiter.co.nr normally has a lot of detail of local (and further afield) flying sites, unfortunately it's down at present (new router issues) but hopefully will be back soon. By the way Steve, I flew single-liners and two-line stunt and sports for many years before I got into power kiting!
