Folkestone 9/10/2011 09:59 The drizzle has stopped and it is brightening up a bit, it is damp under foot. Still almost no wind but the forecast is for 8mph westerly so light wind kites appears to be the order of the day. Park in 'Radnor Park West', the opposite side of the park to where we were last year, there is often on street parking there.

What a fantastic day. Despite the damp start I really enjoyed the whole event. Thanks to all who attended and for supplying us with figures of kites flow. I have done a quick tot op from the board and come up with the following which I have e-mailed to Malcolm to sent to the UK organiser. Number of Individual Kite flights 122 Number of Individual flyers 55
That includes 13 Club members and Mike flying his train of Bees more than once!
Look out for the Kentish Express a their photographer was there for part of the afternoon he may have snapped your kite!

'twas indeed a jolly good day, though at one point I feared my flowtail may be lost for ever, but the family who borrowed it eventually returned it and said what a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon they had had, and thanked everyone for supplying what is a very rare commodity - free entertainment for the kids.

Coming back from B&Q Tunbridge Wells we Spotted a white flowtail in the sky above Sherwood estate, a very odd place to see a kite of any kind. I would suspected Gerty but as she is laid up it's a mystery.

Was indeed my white flowtail, but was being flown by our newest members who were relying on me for a lift to Folkestone. The news from this T. Wells sattelite event which they quickly organised on the field near them....23 kites flown by 23 flyers. Hopefully this can be added to our OSOW title??? Plus of course, my two mini kites off my balcony

It turned into a glorious day and one enjoyed by all. I would just like to correct my brother. Indeed I did fly 14 kites on Sunday but only counted the train of bees once! (however 6 kites at the same time does help to boost the numbers) @ Steve, I was right Barbara flew 4 kites I think the satellite figures should be added to the total as they would have been with us if it wasn't for Gerty's injury. Great day, thanks to all involved. Mike

Well, who would have thought the weather would turn into a lovely day, but it did just that. Steve has the final tally of flown kites, but I know it was about 120+.

Just wanted to say, we both enjoyed yesterday, never flown at Radnor before. It was great the sun came out, and it was nice to see the children out in the fresh air running around flying their kites. Steve and Sue

Well done to all the members who came along, thank you for getting involved with the public as that was part of the aim of the day.
Personal thanks to those who helped with the setting up and packing away the gazebo and other club bits and pieces.
Every-one including the public appeared to have a good day, and also there were positive comments from the public who just were watching.
I will include the satellite event figures in my return to OSOW. Well done to every-one

There are now two entries in the results on the OSOW.org.uk website for Kent kite Flyers, showing the total flown at Radnor Park and a separate entry for Tunbridge Wells. If we total them up KKF have flown the most kites so far with public joining in. Gerty I did include your two kites from your terrace and also added you as a flyer in our total for Tunbridge Wells

Thanks Malcolm. The event in T.Wells was totally impromptu and thoroughly enjoyed by those who took part. Many thanks to Chloe and Archie for all their efforts!
