Hi all, I can’t make it to the AGM unfortunately, I was just seeing what the options would be if the occasional fly in could be on a saturday as most members are either retired or free at weekends. This would be only if we knew the weather was going to be crap on the sunday for sure (i know that’s hard with our weather forecasters)and good on the saturday. For example this weekend sunday weather is rubbish but saturday is looking good for flying and I’m sure if enough notice on the forum and facebook will would be able to fly and not miss a flying day.
Maybe this could be discussed at the AGM on my behalf. Only my view on this maybe other members have some views. Thanks a lot
Simon.

Simon, I will put on the AGM agenda under A.O.B. which is not to stop any comments from members on this thread. Personally, Sunday is a better day for me, but at times is inconvenient due to family committments, I think it all harks back to members working, it has been traditionally a Sunday, and that Sunday is has been the main day off for most people. A lot of clubs do not have weekly fly-ins as such and meet only once a month at most We have weekly meetings, and move around to give members a chance to coming along at least once a month if not more often, as in my case I do not come out in cold weather due to the effect dampness and cold have on my knees, which seize up. Do you or any-one else know of a flying site closer to you, I know you live in the Crawley area, so it be a trek for some members, but I do not see why we cannot fly closer to you occassionally; as you support events and fly-ins where you are able to do so.

Hi Malcolm, I personally dont mind the travelling most places are an hour or slightly over , its just the typical british weather that effects us,I personally will fly on saturday tomorrow but probably on my own locally, but if other members would fly on a saturday due to bad weather on a sunday I would gladly join them. Thus is not intended to replace sunday fly ins by any means just on the ocassional day when sunday’s are definitely out of bounds due to inclement weather. Thanks Simon.

Simon,
I fully understood the sentiment behind your initial comment, will await other comments on this thread or at AGM. I still feel that we should at least occassionally come nearer to you if we could find somewher to fly.

Tonbridge is closer to me than a lot of members under 30 minutes for me ,so I always appreciate when that is chosen for flys in, A lot of members have longer to travel to get to Tonbridge them than myself, maybe we could try to find more sites in other parts of kent?

The issue for me is more to do with last minute changes of plan than anything else. Provided I know a couple of days in advance I can be a bit flexible. Unfortunately the great British weather doesn't always play fair. But if someone wants to fly on a Saturday instead of a Sunday I'm happy to give it a go.
