I hope all you good boys and girls were treated well by the old man with the white beard.
OK folks. In the past we have flown on New Years day (well in the distant past we used to fly on Boxing Day too). We also have an intervening Sunday to contend with. I', getting just a little restless as I have some new toys to play with. Anyone up for a fly on either Sunday 30th December or Tuesday 1st January, or both? The weather forecast seems to be fairly good, but given the ground conditions, I'd suggest somewhere coastal, so maybe the Lade, Camber, Palm Bay or perhaps on the beach at Walmer?
Anyone brave enough to venture out?

I could be up for a fly. Tuesday would be better for me than Sunday.

Possibly if we are free, we are taking each day as it comes

Sunday the Model Boaters are sailing at Kearsney with Mini Christmas trees on their boats, and those that do will receive a mince pie and Mulled wine. 10 am start.

North North Westerly, 19 kph, 9°C and sunshine predicted for Palm Bay. It's 84 miles and 1h 38m compared to 82 miles and 1h 42m to the Lade for you Simon. Easy to stake out kites and plenty of free parking. Just drive to the coast end of Gloucester Avenue (junction with Palm Bay Avenue), Margate (try CT9 3DH for a post code). How about it for 11 New Years day?

BTW Simon, Palm Bay Cafe does a good full english! I'm ok with making the journey to Palm Bay on New year's day, I'm also quite OK with going to the Lade on the 30th if that helps Lets put some colour in these rather grey skies folks.

Sadly both places are too far for me to travel. Sorry.

Looks like no takers for Sunday, I may pop out somewhere for some fresh air. Looks like other than that it is Palm Bay on New Year's Day. I'll aim to get there between 11 and 12.

I don't know that Palm Bay Cafe is open on New Years Day Gareth. Unfortunately I will not be joining in flying on New Year;s Day as family have invited themselves for dinner plus friends. I have found that Palm Bay cafe has a website which leads to their facebook page, so have sent a message to find out if they are open on NYD. If and when I have an answer I will post.

The only days they are closed are Christmas Day and Boxing Day. They will be open on New Years Day from 09:00 until around 15:30ish depending on what the customer numbers are.

You are correct Peter, I have had a reply from the message I sent via f/b, open 9am until officially 4pm, but I would suspect that mid-afternoon they will look at closing, as night starts to fall, and no customers. Hope you enjoy the fly, and the weather is reasonable.
