Betteshanger have enquired as to whether or not we are able to turn the event into a two dayer with camping available. I am putting this out seperately after the list of events, as wish to find out who may wish to camp. I know this comes after Teston and just before Bognor, but want to encourage further support from Betteshanger, and possible development of the flying area being available. There will be no other attractions other than kites and I have stated our concerns about the cyclists ignoring instructions. A lot of details will depend on how many would be interested in camping, I will be putting this on the kiteweekenders forum, as well as putting on kitecalendar.co.uk

I'm not sure of my availability this far in advance and not sure whether I would camp anyway.
I think the issue you have to overcome is that most of the people likely to camp eont know the site. You have to consider where you are going to put them, access to water, etc. My recollection is that the flying site is at the top of a steep slope, which could present access problems got those with long rigs, especially if the slope suddenly levels out. It is also an issue if water is at the bottom of the hill and camping at the top.
Not trying to be negative, just practical.

Stephen,
I have amended the year in the header.
Gareth all the concerns you have raised are already tabled with Betteshanger, as well as separate portaloo. Although not a camper, I am aware of the potential problems with access and being in close proximity to the flying area.

Not having a 'long rig' but a small tent, access would not cause a problem for me. Also the availability of water wouldn't be an issue as, like most tenters, I carry all I need with me. The problem of where you're going to put the campers relative to the flying site would be similar to flying sites like Teston where camping is along the edges of the flying arena I guess. The question this raises is that of security more than anything. The public need to be excluded from the display arena (and therefore the camping area) in order that safety and security can be ensured. I for one would be prepared to give it a try as long as safety and security can be adequately ensured.
