The green at Walmer gets my vote. With commitments until 11 the earliest I can set off is 1 ish, the Late is just too far for a two hour fly. We haven't been this side of the county for quite some time.

I am not out for flying this Sunday, and I agree with Peter, the Lade is just too far at this time of year for those in the exotic Far East.

Just thinking of poor Simon who opened the discussion, and for whom, I suspect that Walmer is a heck of a trek. So maybe the rest of us should accept that if we are Kent kite flyers then perhaps sometimes we have to travel some distance.
Those of us who joined in the time of seks will recall that club fly ins were held in Canterbury, so those of us who lived in the west of the county always had a long journey.
Perhaps we should try to find a solution at the next agm. For now, I'd suggest that those who want to go to the Lade go there, and those that want to go to Walmer go there. And yes, I expect to be widely criticised for the suggestion.

I can make the Lade,I guess on the beach will be ideal now as any grass areas are getting really muddy with all the rain and dew in the mornings. Do you have a postcode for the Lade venue,What time are the lade possy thinking of gathering.

TN29 2PA is the code for Taylor Road which is the road opposite the carpark. The carpark is on either The Parade or Coast Drive, Lydd on Sea.
I will aim to get there at about midday.

I think you all know that I am happy to travel distance, and frequently do, however there are few from the centre or west of the county who bother to travel across to the exotic East when we try and get a fly-in over here. The last few months do seem to have been somewhat loaded to the central or western side of the county.......Just saying.

So maybe the rest of us should accept that if we are Kent kite flyers then perhaps sometimes we have to travel some distance Out of interest I asked Mr Google who came up with the following reply Crawley to Lydd on Sea 1hr 56min (83.4 miles via M20) Crawley to Walmer 1hr 58 mins (89.3miles via M20) Interesting eh! However I don't expect these timings take account of the roadworks and lane closures currently being dropped on travellers with no notice at the moment. Mike
