many of you may have seen a posting on ffacebook from the Friends of Milton Creek Country Park about this event. So far they have not been in contact with me and my contact is Kris Staples, the Park warden/ranger.
This event is on 1st and 2nd September at Milton Creek Country Park Grovehurst Road Sittingbourne ME 10 2 DE.
Entrance is via Large Green Gates, and not via the carpark situated by the community centre opposite the church.
Final details about arrival times to be finalised, and parking.
Event is advertised as from 11am to 4pm, whereas I agreed with Kris that it would be 11am to 5pm (height clearance of 1000 ft has been approved) for 11-5pm.
At this moment I am awaiting a reply to my messages left for Kris to contact me.
Further updates as soon as I have spokne with Kris

Third attempt to have this reply posted, not sure what is happening with my connection to the forum this morning, so apologies if you see three similar replies.
Stephen no problem with your posting, at least it alerted me to the situation, which is now sorted
The timings on the poster mainly relate to the Kite making workshop on the Sunday, as Kris has only been able to obtain volunteers during this period to staff the workshop.
We will be flying from time of arrival, height clearance is from 11am to 5pm both days of 1000ft.
A key is being made available for me to hold to open the Green Gate, similarly with toilet key.
The Green Gates must be kept shut and no member of the public should be allowed to use this entrance on the Saturday, on the Sunday Kris will be on site and the car park will be open to the public. We are not expecting campers and so far no notice of kite flyers from elsewhere attending so it will all Kent Kite Flyer members. It does mention a contribution for parking of £2 for the Sunday, obviously our members are not expected to make this donation.
I am looking to purchase some form of chain or similar with barrel lock ( with code) to make it more secure, than just shutting the gates without locking them on the master lock. If any problems in gaining access, please contact me on my mobile 07840086770

Jamie,
You are always welcome to come along and fly with us, This Sunday you do not have to give me your registration number, but if asked state you are a guest flyer. You may use your car as a anchor, depending on the ground remaining dry and the direction of the wind. To get onto the field you have to drive around the outside of the car park and then when passed take the path to the left and follow it round to almost opposite the car park. Please use 4 ways as there will be otehr users of the park around. Perhaps you may consider re-joining Kent Kite Flyers.

Don't wish to be alarmist but think we should all be aware of this, posted on Friends of Milton Creek Facebook page
"Unfortunately while we were taking part in the Bumblebee Walk between 2pm and 4pm today (Tue 28th Aug) two of the participant’s cars in the Parish Hall car park were broken into. A bag containing a young man’s important study notes among other things was stolen. If anyone saw anything suspicious could they please contact the police on 101. Could everyone please keep a lookout for the bag in case it has been dumped in the Park or the surrounding area."
I think we need to bear this in mind this coming weekend and be extra vigilent regarding locking cars and keeping an eye open for each other.

Mike,
Thanks for the posting, our cars will be allowed to park on the flying field, so will be close at hand. Good advice to keep vehicles locked, as the above does not improve the reputation of the surrounding area, although as usual it is a few individuals who are to blame, whilst the rest of the community try to improve matters, which is one of the reasons for the Country Park.

I'm saying nothing. How did you know I'm retiring? I don't remember mentioning it to anyone (more than once in any sentence!)

Would be good to see you, especially of you have recovered from the send off from colleagues and your celebration at having reached the end of the countdown, which you have not mentioned in every posting from you ( at best it has been 1 in 3). Have a good day tomorrow and do not throw your toys(computers and keyboards) out of the window at the relief at leaving.

I intend being at Milton Creek around 9am-9.15 on Saturday, as I have to locate the key to gates( secret location) The gates will be left unlocked and would request every one is aware of the public trying to gain entry on Saturday via the green gates( and especially travellers) amd close the gates behind them properly. I am hoping to put a cable lock on the gate with a combination. This I will be sending via e-mail to all members. Sunday Kristian will be on duty so should be no problem with entry.
The height clearance is from 10.30am until 5pm

We had a lovely day today ( Saturday ) nice and sunny and warm, wind was a bit fickle at times. Lots of people stopped to chat and watch. A young lad and his Mum brought their Kite along, once I had adjusted it, he flew it for hours, see FB photo.
